Automation group Waldorf Technik is focusing on production of pipette tips at Fakuma. The slimline design of the Vario Tip FSS system means medical moulders do not need to create more cleanroom space, it says. The system handles a variety of part geometries and can process from eight to 128 cavities, sorted by cavity, in packaging units. The advantage of the new FSS version over the standard Vario Tip model lies in the reduced surface requirements. Through skilful arrangement of the buffer surfaces needed to separate the cavities, Waldorf Technik says it has succeeded in halving the area required by the basic system. Tool and product quality are maintained, as are functionality and variability. �

Industry 4.0 is the target of Wemo Automation’s new Wemo Connect system, which allows custom- ers to easily connect a software module to the robot or moulding machine over an internal WiFi connection or a 3G/4G network. The user can monitor, for example, the readout of current availability status, the number of items produced or possible interruptions. At Fakuma, all robots on the Wemo stand will be connected via mobile phones or tablets, with the system supporting both Apple and Android devices. Wemo 3-5 eDesign, a new range of compact

The servo-driven linear robot, with a handling capability of 2kg, can be mounted either within the machine’s protected area or above the gate to the machine safety area as with a conven- tional linear robot. The installation is extremely compact, the company says. In post-moulding operations, like assembly, inspection or packing, all robot movements can be an obstacle to reaching the desired cycle time. In order to improve this, Wemo has developed a tandem concept, in which two robots are mounted on the same main Z-axis, freeing up space. At Fakuma, Wemo will demonstrate a concept based on a Wemo 120 xLine Tandem. �

The fruits of a partnership between Windsor Kunststofftechnologie in Germany and Fu Chun Shin Group (FCS) in Taiwan will be shown on a shared stand at Fakuma 2017. Windsor signed an agreement in 2016 in which FCS is supplying hydraulic and servo-hydraulic injection moulding

machines according to European standards and specifications as prescribed by Windsor. Windsor has responsibility in all EU and EFTA countries for long-term sales, trading, installa- tion, replacement parts supply and service for these 300 to 37,000 kN clamping force machines. At Fakuma, the partners will show a 500-tonne
LM-500SV machine making storage boxes in a single-cavity mould provided by Rival in Germany. Shot weight is 216g in PP, and the boxes measure 370 x 255 x 105 mm with a wall thickness of 1.5mm. The cycle time is 25s. A Campetella robot is used to demould the boxes and stack them on a conveyor belt. Japanese machine manufacturer JSW is another Windsor partner, specialising in electric moulding machines. At Fakuma, a J180ADS-180 U machine will produce a calyx-shaped fruit bowl in an Italian design on a single-cavity mould. Its shot weight is 288g in PP, with a diameter of 245mm and a height of 70mm. Cycle time is below 40s. After mould opening, the robot grips the bowl and deposits it on a conveyor belt.
Design developments in the ADS machines have been made in the clamping unit, and there have been enhancements to the injection unit and control system, and improvements in energy balance and maintenance. �
