35 E VV machine will make a silicone mould for Poffertjes (Dutch pancakes) in a 45s cycle time. To produce a two-component bottle spout, the company will use a Boy 60 E machine in conjunc- tion with a Boy 2C S auxiliary injection unit. The largest machine on display is a fast-running Boy 100 E, with 1,000kN clamping force. On this machine, dosing caps for insulin pens will be produced using a 48-cavity mould. The company says that the double servo pump of the Boy 100 E enables the parallel build-up of nozzle-contact- pressure and high pressure at the beginning of the injection moulding cycle. Two functions at the end of the cycle, mould opening and ejector triggering, can be performed in parallel by means of the servo double pump, reducing production time. Elmet, the equipment supplier for injection moulding LSR, has introduced a standardised barcode system for drum labelling and recognition as part of its TOP 5000 P dosing systems. The

which, in addition to the conventional A or B label for the two components, also have a barcode running around them. Optionally, Elmet provides its dosing system with a reading device co-ordinat- ed to this barcode. The control unit of the TOP 5000 P only allows the pump to be immersed into the new drum if it recognises the right code. The unit is a hand scanner, but Elmet intends to also launch a height-adjustable, firmly installed reading device once the safety system has become estab- lished on a broad front. Until this happens, Elmet is offering as an alternative a corresponding adhesive tape that is applied in the incoming goods depart- ment. The TOP 5000 P dosing system is suitable for


material viscosities of 9,000 mPas to 3,000,000 mPas, even when there are significant viscosity differences between the A and B components. � www.elmet.com
