Triple advantage Bimec of Italy has recently supplied three separate customers with new slitter rewinders. In Turkey, Lidersan Saglik recently commissioned two new STM 80 C+ duplex slitter rewinders. The two machines were installed in September 2025 and, after six months of full-capacity operation, are performing to the customer’s complete satisfaction, confirming the effectiveness of the technological solution adopted. The STM 80 slitters are designed for slitting with
razor blades and mechanical circular knives, for maximum versatility when processing materials used in flexible packaging. Both have a splicing table with a short web-path under the running board, to be properly isolated from the floor. This meets a key requirement in the hygiene sector: preventing material contamination from dust particles. Key operating features include: a web width of 1650mm; a maximum finished roll diameter of 800mm; and operating speeds up to 800 m/min. In South Africa, Huhtamaki Flexible Packaging has installed two new TCA 64C+ machines at its Durban plant. Four months after start-up, the machines are
operating at full capacity and have helped the plant “achieve a significant increase in productivity”. The TCA 64C+ has a compact design which,
thanks to the semi-integrated unwind stand, ensures easy access to the slitting area and eliminates the risk of material contamination. The machine is designed for various slitting solutions, using either razor blades or circular knives – both mechanical and pneumatic – offering great flexibil- ity, it says. Other features include an automatic positioning system for the knife holders and multi-groove female knives, which are combined with the automatic single laser beam for core positioning. And in Italy, Lineapack chose Bimec to boost
production with a TF 60 single-face slitter rewinder. The company needed to add a solution that could support higher output while maintaining quality standards. The main requirement was a machine that could simplify operators’ work, combined with a strict constraint related to the limited space available. “We needed a highly automated new slitter, but with limited space available,” said Michele Chinello, technical and production manager at Lineapack. “The TF allowed us to add significant production capacity without having to redesign the area.” Though mainly used for paper processing, the TF is also effective on plastic films and paper/film laminates.

MDO productivity Hosokawa Alpine, a specialist in MDO stretching, now offers a quick-change system for its stretching rollers.
It has developed a process that can change the
stretching roller in 15 minutes. To do this, the protective grille of the MDO is opened and a rail is folded out of the machine compartment. The media feed-through and drive are disconnected, then water is drained automatically. Once the roller is released, it can be rolled down by an operator and the built-in crane can lift it out. “If a second roller is available, the quick-change system can ensure permanent availability of the system and maximum productivity,” said Bernd Bayer, director of R&D for blown film extrusion at Hosokawa Alpine. This gives customers maximum flexibility in film
production because it is quick and easy to switch between vacuum and smooth rollers or other roller surfaces. The company has also optimised the surface of its vacuum rollers. By rounding off the vacuum pores, the new vacuum roller can improve the surface quality of films – especially those made from HDPE.
As well as the roller change, it offers a web
cleaning system to remove deposited particles from the surface, where the film tube is cleaned by an extraction system with vacuum nozzles.
