North American machinery sales rose slightly in Q4 2025

Sales of plastics machinery in North America rose slightly in the fourth quarter of last year – the third consecu- tive quarterly increase. Estimates for the quarter indicate

sales of US$327 million – up nearly 8% on the previous quarter and 7% higher year-on-year, says the Plastics Industry Association’s Committee on Equip- ment Statistics (CES).

In primary plastics machinery, single-screw extruders saw a rise of 16% compared to the previous quarter – and 15% compared to Q4 2024. Twin- screw extruder sales fell 8% compared to Q3 – and flat year-on-year.

For comparison, injection moulding

sales rose nearly 9% on the previous quarter, and by 7% over the full year. “Market adjustments across the plastics industry supply chain in response to higher tariffs appear to have helped deter further deterioration during what has been a soft plastics manufacturing year,” said Perc Pineda, chief economist at the association. The value of imports rose nearly 2% to US$3.5 billion, while exports fell nearly 11% to US$1 billion – pushing the trade deficit up nearly 8%. In the latest CES quarterly survey, members were less pessimistic about

Polypipe sales rise in 2025

UK-based Genuit Group, which trades as Polypipe, saw sales rise around 7% last year – exceeding £600 million – while ‘underlying’ pre-tax profits rose nearly 5% to £83m.

Sales in the water management solutions business – which supplies stormwater and wastewater infrastructure – rose more than 5% to nearly £170m. Underlying profit in the

division fell 29% to just under £10m. Revenue was affected by a National Insurance increase and a slow-moving inventory provision.

Sales in sustainable building solutions – mainly focused on plumbing and water supply – rose nearly 7% to £247m. Underlying profit in the division rose by 10%, to almost £60m. Sales grew thanks to market share

gains in drainage products and growth in commercial markets.

However, the proportion

of recyclate it used in its products to less than 51% (from 52% in 2024). “Genuit has again demonstrated its ability to grow and outperform in challenging markets,” according to Joe Vorih, CEO of Genuit. www.polypipe.com

Eurocell sees profits dip in 2025

UK-based profiles extruder Eurocell reported higher sales but lower profits for 2025.

Sales rose 13% to nearly £404 million, while pre-tax profits fell 12% to £12m. However, the sales boost

was largely due to the acquisition of Alunet. Without its contribution, the

company saw flat sales volumes. The profiles division saw a 2% volume decline and a 1% rise in sales due to reduced activity in repair, maintenance and improvement (RMI). “Our financial perfor- mance in 2025 was resilient in the context of subdued trading conditions,” said

market conditions. Those anticipating deterioration in the next quarter dropped from 48% to 13%; those expecting conditions to remain steady or improve over the next 12 months rose from 58% to 83%. “The moderate economic growth outlook for 2026 remains unchanged,” said Pineda. “What may have improved is the prospect that sectors that lagged in previous years, such as construction, could outperform as borrowing costs decline – generating increased demand for plastics and, by extension, plastics equipment.” www.plasticsindustry.org

Molecor adds pipe in Vietnam

Molecor’s PVC-O pipe has been used for a water supply project in Vietnam. The project uses 250mm and 400mm diameter pipe operating at 12.5 bar to transport water from Highway 57C to the Ham Luong booster pumping station in Vinh Long province. The infrastructure follows the road next to the Rach Mieu 2 bridge, supplying the Son Dong and Ben Tre wards. “This initiative is

expected to set a new benchmark for Vietnam’s water supply and sewer- age sector, paving the way for more resilient, efficient, and sustainable public utilities,” said Molecor. www.molecor.com
