Loss-in-weight blender offers fast-response control
Movacolor has launched its MCS continuous loss-in-weight blender, which delivers fast- response control in extrusion processes where throughput can change quickly over short periods.
In some applications, melt pump interruptions can cause sudden and frequent output fluctua- tions. This can lead to unstable material flow, inconsistent blend ratios, increased scrap and rising material costs. While traditional continuous loss-in-weight systems offer high accuracy, many react slowly when extruder demand changes rapidly. Unlike traditional in-line
systems, where dosing units feed directly into the machine inlet, the MCS continuous loss-in-weight
DIES Crosshead is user-friendly and adaptable
Guill Tool has started offering its Unicam crosshead, which it says is user-friendly and adaptable. The name derives from a combina-
tion of advances made to two of its technologies: the Single-Point concentricity adjustment system; and the Cam-Lock fastener-free assembly system.
On the front of the head, the new universal adjustment system allows the user to choose either the traditional four-bolt method of concentricity adjustment or the Single-Point style of concentricity

adjustment. Switching from traditional to Single-Point operation requires the removal of four locking bolts, says the company.
On the back of the head, the
improved Cam-Lock system allows the head to be disassembled with a single turn of a wrench for quick, easy colour changes or cleanouts. Thanks to the Cam-Lock system, turning the disas- sembly wrench not only loosens the splitter, but continuing to turn the wrench will mechanically extract the splitter.
With a half-turn of a wrench, users can typically clean or change colours and start the line again in less than 10 minutes.

extruder capacities of 20–30 kg/h and masterbatch additions of just 1%, the system remains stable and accurate, said Klaas Talsma, product manager at Movacolor.

New wares on show at
Chinaplas Maag will showcase products from its new subsidiary Sikora at Chinaplas in April. As well as showing its
own products – including continuous melt filters in its Ettlinger range – Maag will showcase several Sikora products. These include: Purity
Concept V, for inspection and analysis of pellets, flakes and test plates; Purity Scanner Advanced, for inspection and sorting of demanding plastic applications; Centerwave 6000 for measuring the wall thickness and diameter of pipes from 32 to 1,600mm; and X-Ray 6000 Pro, which measures all dimensions of multi- layer products, including minimum wall thickness.
