In small pot, combine ¼ cup sugar and ¼ cup water. Heat until sugar dissolves. Cool completely and add to large pitcher. To pitcher, add 2 (750 ml) bottles dry red wine, juice of 2 oranges, 1 cup brandy, 1 cup triple sec, and 2 cinnamon sticks. Stir in 2 oranges, sliced, and 2 apples, cored and diced. Chill until cold or serve over ice.
