ankee dryer cleaners - regular Yankee dryer surface cleaning during downtime is important and removing coating is even more critical if chatter marks are developing which can migrate across the face and into the Yankee surface.
The Kadant Yankee dryer cleaner is lightweight, easy to handle, requires minimal manpower and above all, being purpose designed, is safe to use without the need to fix abrasive paper to wooden planks or to the doctor blades. There are a variety of application specific pads available for cleaning and polishing the Yankee surface, and when used regularly the cleaner can act as an effective chatter management device and prevent the need for expensive Yankee regrinds.
Features include: • Can be used in any doctor holder type
• Easy installation and removal • Application specific cleaning and polishing pads
Benefits include: • Safe and effective, requires minimal manpower
• Removes all coating from the Yankee surface
• Improves creping effectiveness, machine efficiency and productivity
• Removes chatter marks in coating and prevents them spreading
• Reduces frequency of Yankee regrinds.
Roll cleaners - Doctor blades are used to remove contaminants and other matter from paper machine rolls. Over time, the build- up on the roll surface requires additional cleaning to ensure more uniform roll surface conditions. The Kadant roll cleaner removes build-up on roll surfaces without costly regrinds or special release coatings. Using the roll cleaner during regular

week long. In the meantime, the customer realised spare parts were unavailable and on a long delivery time, so an immediate repair was impossible.
The Phantom system was therefore reconfigured so that instantaneous alarms were triggered if different types of vibration thresholds were exceeded. These also alerted selected engineers, via email and phone notifications, if certain conditions were met. Regular online meetings
were held to analyse the data making it possible to delay the outage so that the time and cost impact was lessened to the business and other work was able to be planned to occur simultaneously.
This was only made possible by a combination of close monitoring, a deep understanding of the data and what it meant to the machinery and to activities such as regular oil changes. This continued until the risk of failure reached an

scheduled downtime has been shown to improve the condition of the roll surface. The roll cleaner conveniently fits into most conventional doctor blade holders and incorporates application specific cleaning pads for cleaning and polishing the surface of paper machine rolls, especially on machines producing grades from recycled fibres, and for porous roll surfaces that require specialised surface cleaning and conditioning. The roll cleaner is designed with a pivot point that allows self- adjustment for all blade angles and

unacceptable level. Under normal circumstances where instantaneous vibration spectrum data from continuous monitoring of the vibration waveforms is not available, the risk of continuing to operate would have been too high and a long outage waiting for parts would have been necessary. Salvtech also performed maintenance work involving a complete shaft and impeller change on this key asset meaning a complete turnkey job from investigation to repair.
