Specialist in luxury vinyl flooring Karndean Designflooring successfully introduced its new Art Select wood designs and demonstrated the performance benefits of its first rigid core LVT collection, Korlok, at this year’s Flooring Show.
Visitors were treated to a preview of the cool and sophisticated multi-tonal grey hues of Storm Oak in various formats; full length plank (1219mm x 178mm), parquet (228mm x 76mm) and basketweave (305mm x 76mm, 114mm x114mm). Also well received was the new Spring Oak basketweave design to match the existing Spring Oak full length plank and parquet formats already available.
Stella Coyle, National Sales Manager at Karndean Designflooring, commented: “Having the designs in different formats will allow home decorators to achieve
a consistent feel throughout the home. We’re expecting ‘room to room’ floor designs to become an even more popular trend going forward.”
Also attracting a lot of attention was the Korlok demonstration. Thanks to its innovative K-core technology, Korlok can be installed over most existing hard surface floors or uneven subfloors without exposing any imperfections underfoot. It can also reduce noise transfer to rooms below up to 19dB, without the need for a separate underlay.
Stella said: “Importantly for retailers, Korlok offers a new flooring solution for any type of subfloor with minimal preparation and upheaval, and there’s a wide array of premium wood designs to choose from.
“Korlok can also be scored and snapped for ease of installation, just like our Gluedown and LooseLay ranges.”

Lee Thompson explained: “The Flooring Show also saw the launch of a chevron-style floor for the Quick-Step real wood engineered collection and so our Master Installer course content has been adapted to include the skills and knowledge required to fit this floor to the highest possible standard.
Quick-Step and Academy for Excellence in Flooring
The Academy for Excellence in Flooring partnered with Quick-Step for this year’s Flooring Show, explaining the benefits of its Master Installer certification scheme to visiting retailers and installers.
One of the major benefits of the Master Installer scheme is the provision of a manufacturer-backed warranty on all installation work and the Academy used the show to announce the extension of this warranty from two years to lifetime.
