GOING FOR GOLD

It’s no mean feat to be awarded the highest accolade of a RoSPA Gold Award for the second year running. Here, Emma Hill of CH&CO explains how an

effective communication and engagement strategy is the secret to creating a positive health and safety culture.

A can-do culture We’ve worked very hard to create and embed an inclusive health and safety culture across the group and this is paying real dividends for us and our clients. Long gone are the days of ‘them and us’ where a visit or email from the health and safety department is met with groans and even dread at the thought of impending additional work. Health and safety best practice is second nature for all our teams, both on-site and at head office, and our role is to advise and support in this area.

Our employee engagement and education programmes ensure that across the group, all teams understand about health and safety policies and practices, and how they relate to each client. Our Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award confirms our outstanding performance and ongoing commitment to raising standards. One team alone can’t achieve this; it has to be a company-wide, united effort.

We’ve developed a comprehensive portfolio of training tools that’s continually updated to keep it relevant. This includes, for example, an online training system, which is accessible across the entire business and completely
