SLIP RESISTANCE AT GREEK

SWIMMING POOL Heronrib barefoot matting, manufactured in the UK by the matting division at Plastic Extruders Ltd, is being used to keep the local swimming and water polo teams safe from slipping accidents at the natatorium in Glyfada, which is part of the Athletic Nautical Club of Glyfada, in Athens, Greece.

Greek flooring Plastex distributor, Beredimas Safety Floors, recommended Heronrib as the perfect barefoot slip-resistant solution. The matting has been laid in the locker rooms and the hallway just outside the shower area to protect users walking barefoot on the wet and therefore slippery marble flooring.

Heronrib has a “C” Classification for slip-resistance surface under DIN 51097 the highest rating, and an open grid, two-layer construction with channelled underbars, which guarantees a dry surface is maintained

even in the most trafficked wet areas. Additionally, its non-porous PVC sections and impregnated anti-microbial and anti-fungal additives ensure permanent barefoot hygiene.

Available in several standard colours and sizes, the mat allows for a quick

and easy installation in a care-free, safe and hygienic environment.

NEW SIKA FIBRE

REINFORCED SikaLevel Fibre Reinforced is the new latex-modified, cement-based levelling compound from Sika. Fibre Reinforced has been enhanced with polymeric microfibres to improve durability and tensile strength, which provides extra resilience against cracking.

SikaLevel Fibre Reinforced can be used for smoothing and levelling surface irregularities on difficult internal and external floors – including wood, floating floors, sand and concrete slabs and ceramic and plastic tiles. Due to its increased strength it is also the ideal product to use with under- floor heating systems.

A key feature of SikaLevel Fibre Reinforced is its low dust formulation, especially beneficial for domestic uses. Another useful component of Fibre Reinforced is the rapid setting quality,

applied prior to the user applying other wearing surfaces, such as carpet, vinyl, tile, laminate or wood.

It’s suitability for a range of floor coverings means SikaLevel Fibre Reinforced can be used alongside a wide range of Sika products, including all the SikaBond wood floor and soft floor covering adhesives, as well as the SikaCeram tile adhesives range.

Jayne Hasoon, Product Manager from Sika, commented: “We are happy to be able to offer our customers this new, hard-wearing and durable floor screed. SikaLevel Fibre Reinforced really stands apart as it can be used beneath heating cables and pipes or on top of heated screeds, or as a wearing surface itself.”

with light foot traffic possible after just two to four hours. Floorcoverings can then be laid after just 24 hours.

Unlike some other levelling products, SikaLevel Fibre Reinforced can be used as a wearing surface. It can also be
