Flooring Solutions Billingsgate Market

A successful contract with one of the most famous markets in the country has helped put resin flooring firmly on the map as a great solution for food and drink environments.

The staying power of RSL’s resin flooring Resuthane has been showcased at Canary Wharf’s Billingsgate Market, as it continues to perform well seven years after installation.

Billingsgate is the largest inland fish market in the UK and is served by almost every port in the country, with

an average 25,000 tonnes of fish and fish products sold through its merchants each year.

Covering 13 acres, the ground floor of the building comprises a large trading hall with 98 stands and 30 shops, as well as a number of individual cold rooms and an 800 tonne freezer store maintained at -28°C.

The large volume of people and product moving through the complex on a daily basis made durability an important consideration in choosing the most suitable flooring for this

project, but it also needed to be food- safe, hygienic and easy to clean. Resuthane TG69 was installed in 2007 in a Forest Green colour.

Martin Wroe from RSL said:

“Resuthane has quickly become one of our most popular products and was the obvious choice for Billingsgate market because it is robust, easy to maintain and has a great finish.”
