SPOTLIGHT SPOTLIGHT ON: PINTEREST
In celebration of our fourth birthday last month, Tomorrow’s Flooring have clambered aboard this ever-expanding social media giant to launch our very own Pinterest profile. Learn more about how you can get your business involved in this issue’s Pinterest- dedicated Spotlight feature.
WHAT IS PINTEREST? “Pinterest is a tool for collecting and organising the things you love.”
This is how the San Fransico-based company, who formed in 2010 after just a few months of development, describe themselves. Less than a year later, the site had more than 10,000 people onboard, and now, four years on, they boast an astounding 70 million users.
It’s free to join Pinterest for businesses, and the steps are easy. Once you have created your profile, you can upload your own pictures, or you can take pictures from other accounts. Anyone can then visit your profile and see your pictures. This could lead to them sharing it again with others, clicking through to your website, or even making enquiries about a product or service on offer.
THE TOMORROW’S FLOORING BOARDS Homemade Flooring From gold glittery concrete floors to hand-painted roses on old
LEARN THE LINGO: Pinterest- Pinterest is the name of the website, which can be found at
www.pinterest.com; it's a hybrid of the words pin and interest.
Pin- Described by the site as an online bookmark, you can ‘pin’ any image you like. They will all be collected together and you can view them at anytime, and be taken back to the source that it came.
Board- Boards are used to organise your pins. You can make as many or as few boards as you like. Keep all your pins in one place and just have one board, or separate them into categories, like we have.
wooden floorboards, this board is for impressive home-crafted flooring projects by creative amateurs.
Unusual Flooring Our fullest board yet! The internet is full of stunning designs, and the use of materials that you might never have
considered before, like book spines and dried flowers pressed under glass tiles.
Fun Flooring Great for kids bedrooms and playrooms, this board features floors like a Monopoly board which has been painted onto wooden planks in a games room.
Colourful Flooring Who doesn’t love a bit of colour in their flooring? Whilst green and turquoise features often, we’ve also come across some bright, mis-matched tiles, like the beautiful handmade tiles which can be found in Balboa Park in San Diego, USA.
Outdoor Flooring Whilst our remit doesn’t always cover outdoor flooring, we just couldn’t resist sharing some of these unique designs, like grass and concrete combining to make a cross-stitch effect, and a few impressive stair designs that may provide inspiration for the next flat surface you work on.
Natural Flooring The place where we collect images of flooring crafted from natural materials like cordwood, bamboo and moss.
