FUTURE PROSPECTS In terms of forward development pipeline, prospects in 2013/14 are more optimistic with at least 30,000 bedspaces in development over the next two to three years. The London supply pipeline, with schemes at either planning application or planning permission stage, stands at around 13,000 bed spaces to 2016, of which around 6,000 are under construction. New entrants, such as Manor Property Group are emerging in the sector, backed by a wide range of funding vehicles which reflect the attractiveness of this property sector. The largest provider, UNITE, has approximately 6,000 bed-spaces in its forward pipeline. Going forward, projects between developers and universities, as opposed to the direct-let operators, will continue to be more attractive to investors, with good prospects for growth in the medium term, reflecting a continuing rise in student numbers.
