BFG Launches National Campaign To Attract Youth To Cleaning And FM Sectors


With fears of an ageing workforce and impending skills gap gripping the sector, T he Building F utures


G roup ( BF G ) has launched a national campaign with the aim of attracting young people to the cleaning and facilities management sectors his driv e has the intention of inspiring more people to consider cleaning and facilities management as a long- term career option, showcasing the career progression opportunities and attractive salaries available


O ften referred to as the ‘ secret sector’, worth at least £ 7 0 b illion per year to the economy, the campaign serv es to highlight the detrimental effect that the entire economy could ex perience ithout such vital services Sarah Bentley, CE O of T he BF G , ex plained:


“ F acilities management is a much- overlooked career option any people simply don’t understand what it entails ood facilities managers are ab solutely central to successful organisations, running the b uildings and services they encompass Sarah added that cleaning has a reputation for b eing a low paid, low skilled j ob ith fe prospects he Secret obs campaign wants to dispel this myth and highlight how these b ooming sectors could be the anser to  lling some of the estimated six million j ob
