Guess Who’s Back

T his year’s L adder E x change got underway earlier this week on 1 st

S eptemb er, as people and b usinesses took the chance to trade in their old and potentially ‘ dodgy’ ladders for discounted new ones, at trade-in partners across the 

During the  rst month of this years campaign, the L adder A ssociation is focused on promoting training and safe use by the people using ladders Regulations state that people using ladders must be competent, and this year’s new H S E guidance notes that training ( such as those courses which prov ided b y the L adder A ssociation) can help prove this competence

Cameron Clow, the L adder

A ssociation’s Chairman, said: “ We’re dev oting a month of the L adder

E x change to promoting safe use, so that ev eryone knows that the guidance and training they need is available ou dont have to be orking in construction to bene t  even occasional users in retail, for ex ample, have a course tailored to them

S afe ladder use will also b e promoted b y ‘ I diots on L adders’ – the online contest which is b ack once again to run alongside the E x change

this year he public is asked to take pictures of dangerous or foolish ladder use and send them in to the adder ssociation

T he ‘ I diots on L adders’ contest is part of a two-pronged push to help ensure that ladder users are safe While the adder

E x change takes unsafe equipment out of circulation, ‘ I diots on L adders’ looks at the role of people using the euipment eld on the adder

Cameron added: “ Most people these days understand what makes ladder use safe or unsafe or to years now we hav e b een running the ‘ I diots on L adders’ contest, and each time pictures have come fl ooding in

T hat shows that the pub lic knows when people are doing something on a ladder they shouldn’t, and are shocked b y it, b ut it also shows that misusing a ladder is far too common

T he L adder E x change 2 0 1 4 will focus on a different facet of ladder safety during each of its four months
