News Sponsored by CHSA seek undergraduates for 2020

The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) has launched the search for its 2020 Undergraduate Scholars.

‘Would-be students’, who are the sons or daughters of CHSA members' employees and on 1 September 2020 will be 18 years or over and commencing their higher education studies, are eligible to apply.

Successful applicants will be awarded a maximum of £4500, receiving the Bursary in three instalments: £1500 at the start of each academic year or for the first three academic years if the degree is longer.

Applicants are assessed according to need, worthiness, endeavour, and overall performance. Each candidate also brings something unique, their ‘x-factor’.

David Garcia, Vice President of the CHSA, explained: “Our employees’ members work hard and this bursary, by giving something directly to their offspring, is a perfect way for us to say thank you for their contribution and ongoing commitment.

“This is the sixth year since we re-launched the undergraduate bursary. Every year the selection process is incredibly competitive and it is always a pleasure to

Applying is simple. Eligible young people need to visit the CHSA website and click on the link on the 2020 Bursary page. The form includes a 400-word statement and it’s advisable to draft the statement prior to accessing the form.

The closing date for applications is 26 June 2020. Shortlisted applicants need to be available to meet the judging panel, led by CHSA Vice President David Garcia, on 22 July 2020.

Dog toilet opens at Osaka Airport

Kansai Airports has announced that Osaka International Airport (ITAMI) has set up a pet relief area, the first of its kind at a Japanese airport.

The dedicated dog toilet will be located in a fenced- off yard outside the terminal, enabling dogs to relieve themselves before

boarding. Although outside, the area is covered by a roof

so it can be used in all weather. It contains water bowls, a shower, and a flushing ‘pee pole’.

It’s hoped that this will reduce the stress for pets, and improve convenience and comfort for both the pet and their human companions.

Service dogs also have a facility inside the terminal, complete with an intercom system – owners will need to prepare pee pads to use these facilities.

Animal-friendly relief areas are the subject of federal laws in the US, as it’s compulsory for all airports with annual passenger numbers in excess of 10,000 to provide them – and for them to be accessible for wheelchair users. IMAGE CREDIT: Kansai Airports
