News Sponsored by Soap sell out as Coronavirus fears grow

British eco-cleaning chemical brand, Delphis Eco, has reported a sell-out of its anti-bacterial hand soaps as public concern grows in the wake of the Coronavirus and its likely spread in the UK.

CEO Mark Jankovich has tripled production capabilities in order to meet demand and ensure emergency supplies are available to fulfil orders across washrooms in the restaurant and hotel sectors.

Mark said: “The World Health Organisation has declared the virus ‘public enemy number one’. People are worried, businesses are worried, and hotels and restaurants are taking the situation very seriously. It’s not just the out of home market – retail sales are going through the roof too for domestic use. We have upped production by more than 300% in order to meet current demand.

“Whilst the evidence seen so far indicates that the coronavirus spreads through close contact with individuals who are infected, personal hygiene is at the forefront of peoples’ minds who want to take precautionary measures. Anti-bacterial hand-soap, and good hand hygiene, are key to this.”

Metro Rod aims to recruit up to 80 new apprentices in 2020, following a successful first year of its apprenticeship in Drainage Maintenance, Inspection and Repair.

The nationwide commercial drainage expert made the announcement during the 13th annual National Apprenticeship Week, 3 – 9 February.

Metro Rod’s apprenticeship scheme is an industry first. Nearly a year on since launch, Metro Rod remains the only company to offer a bespoke apprenticeship, accredited by the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning.

During the apprenticeship, participants join specialist drainage teams in Metro Rod franchises around the country, where they will become highly skilled members of the industry while simultaneously earning a living.

The bespoke ‘earn while you learn’ training programme includes 37 practical internal courses and 12 external courses, covering every aspect of the industry that drainage specialists need to know. All teaching is provided in-house and adopts a practical, hands-on approach, covering

The structured learning pathway is split into three phases, starting with a three-month foundation then progressing to 18 months of skills development, ending with three months of consolidation and assessment. This way, apprentices are given the opportunity to progress down a pathway to create a career that suits them.

Peter Molloy, Metro Rod’s Managing Director, said: “Nearly 12 months after the launch of our apprenticeship scheme, there are now multiple apprentices working out of our depots across the UK. We can confidently say that each of our new employees are benefitting from this way of training whilst our customers are gaining from their fresh knowledge and new skills on-site.

“At Metro Rod, we’re committed to making sure the next generation of drainage and plumbing specialists have the skills, enthusiasm and knowledge to move the industry forward and truly believe that the Metro Rod apprenticeship ensures this.

“Our ethos is to provide the right people with the right skills to build their own careers, grow our business and better the drainage industry.”
