Happy New Year from everyone at Tomorrow’s Cleaning! While each New Year brings with it hope and optimism, 2022 began with skyrocketing
infection numbers as the highly transmissible Omicron variant swept across the globe. Whether it’s deadlier than other variants or not isn’t the biggest issue: it’s that it’s
causing huge numbers of illnesses, absences and isolations, putting even more strain on industries already dealing with reduced staff numbers.
This includes our own cleaning and hygiene industry, as the BCC has been warning of
recruitment and staffing issues for months. With many companies already depleted of staff, the pressure is on the operatives still available to keep people safe and in hygienic surroundings as we battle to get back to normal. Still, at least there’s one thing you can say about 2022: it will have to work extremely hard to be worse than 2020 or 2021.
In this first issue of Tomorrow’s Cleaning for 2022, we take a look at the advances in
Technology for the cleaning industry, with Holly from Killis examining the robotics that will revolutionise the industry. Alastair from Robert Scott takes a look at the future of
floorcare technology, and Ezitracker’s Christian Berenger explains how cleaning service providers can benefit from integrating workforce management data with cloud-based automated payroll systems.
In our Food Safety and Steam Cleaning section, Jeremy Bennett from Essity asks how restaurant managers can reassure wary diners and reduce infection risks. James from
Denis Rawlins shares expert advice for eradicating safety risks like greasy floors in busy restaurants and fast-food venues, while Daniel from Kärcher UK demonstrates why steam is one of the most effective methods of ensuring hygienic food preparation.
