News Sponsored by UltraCare joins Mapei Zero

Seven treatments from the UltraCare range have joined Mapei UK’s Zero Line – a range of low environmental impact products.

They include six UltraCare surface maintenance products and UltraCare Smooth Silicone. The extended portfolio, which also includes installation and building products, provides safe and sustainable high-performance solutions with CO2

fully offset in the entire life cycle. CO2 emissions – measured throughout the life cycle

of products from the Zero line in 2023 using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, verified and certified with EPDs – have been offset through the acquisition of certified carbon credits in support of renewable energy and forestry protection projects. The portfolio demonstrates Mapei’s commitment to the planet, to people and to biodiversity.

Formulated in the Mapei Research Laboratories and designed for professional and end-user application, Mapei’s UltraCare series provides a solution from installation, to the protection and maintenance of surfaces in private and commercial settings. Treatments are formulated for all types of natural and engineered stone and tile finishes, and are tailored to a tile’s finish and individual characteristics. The new Zero Line products include:

• UltraCare Multicleaner – a concentrated pH-neutral solution for everyday cleaning.

• UltraCare HD Cleaner – an intensive alkaline treatment for deep cleaning and restoration.

• UltraCare Keranet – a concentrated ‘buffered’ acid cleaner.

Oxwash has announced that the organisation is now officially EN 14065 accredited (certified by Atlas) at its 20,000 sq ft flagship facility, known as Big Blue.

EN 14065 accreditation is the essential certification for a commercial laundry company to wash items from hospitals and other healthcare facilities. This comprehensive accreditation ensures that Oxwash is well-prepared to meet the specific needs and standards of the medical and healthcare industries, providing services for bed linen, blankets, towelling, uniforms, scrubs, patient gowns, white and lab coats, chefs’ wear and more.

The accreditation is a symbol of Oxwash’s pledge to operate at the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness, aligned with Healthcare Technical Memorandum 01-04 (HTM-01-04). Compliance is essential to meet the stringent demands of healthcare facilities and ensures the safety and wellbeing of patients and staff alike.

Oxwash is the first carbon-neutral laundry to receive the prestigious EN 14065 accreditation. Until now, the conventional requirement for healthcare laundry was

washing at a minimum of 65-71°C. Oxwash developed an alternative approach, whereby even critical hygiene standards demanded by hospitals can be reached whilst washing at much colder temperatures. This ensured Oxwash could uphold its commitment to sustainability without compromising on results and still gain the EN 14065 accreditation.

Dr Kyle Grant, founder of Oxwash, said: “It brings me enormous pleasure to be able to confirm our recent EN 14065 accreditation assessment was successful. For those of you not familiar with the minutiae of government and Public Health England legislature, EN 14065 is the accreditation necessary for a commercial laundry company to wash items from a hospital or other healthcare facility.

“We received zero corrective measures or actions according to our auditors, a first for any laundry in the UK, so we’re very proud of our operational team's attention to detail and execution. It’s also the first time a carbon-neutral laundry service has ever been accredited to wash healthcare items that we know of in the world, another huge milestone for us and our mission.”
