The Window Cleaning World Cup returned to The Cleaning Show 2023, as the competition to crown the fastest window cleaner in the country once again attracted some of the fastest wipers in the West. The Guinness World Record is 9.14 seconds for men and 16.28 seconds for women.

Adjudicated by the Federation of Window Cleaners (FWC), it will probably come as no surprise that once again the legendary Terry ‘Turbo’ Burrows retained his title with a time of 15.07 seconds. Patrick Schaumacher from WEPA swiped into second place in 22.94 seconds, with Paul Geddes from Phoenix Cleaning Company taking third place in 25.7 seconds.

In the women’s category, window cleaning proved to be a family affair as Terry’s daughter, Aliscia Burrows, was crowned as champion with a spectacular time of 17.08, within a second of the world record. OCS Group’s Dominika Duda was runner-up at 37.02 seconds, with Lider’s Grasiela Vincent finishing third in 44.81 seconds.

The competition, which attracts competition from around the world, tasks competitors with cleaning three 114.3 x 114.3cm (45 x 45 inch) windows, set in a frame with a 300mm (11.75 inch) long squeegee and nine litres of water, in the fastest time. They must also wipe the window sill, with smears incurring smears will incur time penalties.

Paul Thrupp, judge of the Window Cleaning World Cup and former chairman of the BCC, said: “The Window Cleaning World Cup is always a success amongst exhibitors and visitors at The Cleaning Show. It's lovely to see world record holders and father-daughter duo Terry and Aliscia Burrows competing and inspiring the crowd the competition draws in. Thank you to the timekeepers and all those who took part. The event brings a great energy to the show and we’re already looking forward to next year’s competition.”
