A look ahead to the biggest ever Facilities Show as it prepares to offer
increased CPD opportunities. In a move towards promoting increased professionalisation and recognition for facilities management as an established profession, this year’s Facilities Show will introduce the new CPD Seminar Theatre in association with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) and sponsored by The PURE Water Company. Senior Business Development Manager, Mervyn Silk has explained the motivation for supporting this theatre saying, “We are keen to promote continued learning and development within FM and sustainability, and look forward to presenting within this exciting new element of the show”. The PURE Water Company will be exhibiting its latest touch screen controlled tap providing chilled still and sparkling water as well as hot. This will be installed as part of a link line system to show how its products can supply

a whole building while cutting down on space required.
As the industry becomes ever more fast-paced and subject to increasing levels of legislation, the need for continuing professional development is essential for all ambitious facilities managers. This revised content will reflect a move within the FM industry towards increased professionalisation and officially recognised development.
Valerie Everitt, Director of Education and Professional Standards at the BIFM believes that topping up knowledge through training and CPD opportunities now forms a critical part of every successful FM’s job, saying, “This is an exciting time for the FM profession - there is a vast talent pool of experienced FM managers and those keen to enter our industry. Also new to the show is the Facilities Forum. This busy seminar theatre, sponsored by Planon Software, will host leading industry speakers addressing key issues on the FM agenda, providing thought provoking insight on issues including compliance, security, risk management, cost control and churn management.
