TILING TURNS TRENDY AS ARDEX TURNS ON THE STYLE AT GUESS

ARDEX is the new “must have” for large format tiling installations.

With an outstanding portfolio of retail installations, ARDEX UK was delighted to provide the ideal tile fixing solution for the new GUESS store, which recently opened on London’s stylish Regent Street. In partnership with contractors Collards Floors & Walls Ltd of Bristol, a fast track tiling solution was specified, assuring a premium finish to this prestigious store.

GUESS is known for its fashion-forward styling, upscale image and glamorous collections, and their new megastore, extending 600m2 over two levels, has a linear design and incorporates women’s and men’s denim walls in classic GUESS red. Raised and lowered ceilings and specially illuminated fixtures and platforms provide a play on symmetry for the eye and give movement to the store volume, accentuating the

various zones dedicated to the entire range of GUESS.

With designer clothing and shoes on careful display, GUESS were clearly after more than just a floor for their customers to walk on. After all, fashion retail is all about image and there’s no better way to show off and reiterate that message of a high-end, top quality, flashy store, than keeping it consistent throughout the design, all the way to the floor.

Stylish, large format 1200mm x 600mm Porcelain floor tiles were fixed with ARDEX X 78 S MICROTEC® Ultra Rapid Setting Floor Tile Adhesive in grey. Specifically designed to revolutionise fixing large format floor tiles, ARDEX X 78 S has a unique consistency which offers all the benefits of a pourable adhesive without the

disadvantages of dripping. It is also possible to achieve solid bed fixing without the need to butter the tile back whilst avoiding negatives such as unwanted mess or filling of grout joints.

As any retail store will understand, time is of the essence, particularly at peak hours, and a job such as flooring could really set them back a pretty penny. However, additional benefits of ARDEX mean that the tiles can be walked on and grouted after just 90 minutes of them being placed, making ARDEX X 78 S a ‘must have’ for large format tiling installations.

For the perfect finish, ARDEX–FLEX FL Rapid Setting Flexible Grout was used to fill the tile joints. Now available in 32 stunning colours to suit any businesses requirements, ARDEX-FLEX FL grout

provides specifiers with endless choice when looking for the perfect shade to match or contrast with their chosen tile.

Mark O’Connor of Collards Floors & Walls Ltd commented: “Modern, large format tiles have become a popular choice for many environments, as they provide a real ‘style statement’. For such installations we rely on ARDEX X 78 S MICROTEC® Tile Adhesive as it has been developed with large format tiles in mind, thereby providing peace of mind in terms of compatibility and performance”.
