Case Study:

THE MILLENNIUM STADIUM CARDIFF

Stadiums and arenas make up some of the most iconic buildings in the world with millions of people passing through them every day. For this reason alone it’s hugely important that floors are safe, hardwearing, welcoming and easy to maintain. Many companies profess to be specialists in the industry but all too often a lack of experience leads to failing floor systems and an urgent requirement for restorative work, risk to public health and safety and increased insurance premiums.

So how can you be sure that the contractor you choose will provide the floor system that you require? References and examples of previous work are a good starting point…

Quest specialise in creating flooring systems and specifications which will stand up to the demands and requirements of a

stadium environment whether they be:

• Hard wearing • Hygienic • Easy to clean • Environmentally friendly • Design inspired • Low maintenance • Anti slip • Decorative • Resistant to staining

• Anything and everything is possible…

Quest’s reputation, expertise and experience are invaluable and they obviously take pride in everything that they do. This is all emphasised by a range of guarantees offered by Quest which proves the confidence they have in the floor systems they provide and their people who install them!

Looking at a recent example of work carried out by Quest at The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff we can see how various areas in the stadium required different approaches to a common requirement for a good quality flooring solution. Quest was tasked with recommending and installing various resin based systems to kitchen, retail and toilet environments, recommendations and systems were as follows:

Kitchen – An existing 10 year specification was upgraded to fulfill an upgraded specification for a high use kitchen area in an arena environment. Light colored to ensure best hygiene and to make cleaning easy and non slip to ensure maximum safety.

Retail – 10 years wear and tear had made the floor tired

and worn out – a new 10 year specification was developed where deterioration, fatigue and general signs of wear and tear would be negligible to an untrained eye.

Toilet – Level 5 executive WC facilities were in need of an upgrade, a further 10 year specification was developed providing a bright, hygienic and easy to clean facility.

The stadium’s facilities manager, Alan Lewis said: “The work that Quest did for us has drastically improved the appearance of the stadium’s facilities and I was very impressed with Quest in general.”
