THE PERFECT SOLUTION
MG Group Interiors have been well established since the eighties, and certainly know a thing or two about fitting people with the perfect working environment to suit their every day needs. So when it came to improving their own surroundings, they knew where to get good quality results.
A fit out project, which involved creating new headquarters for MG Group Interiors, was started with the intention to improve indoor air quality and create a healthier interior environment for the company. To do that, the company, which has three areas within it called MG Ceilings and Linings, MG Barkers and MG Linear, selected two shades of Desso’s innovative AirMaster carpet tiles.
The vibrant stripes of colour on a dark background make Desso’s AirMaster carpet tiles the perfect solution to address aesthetics, as well as performance quality to improve the air quality inside buildings. AirMaster has undergone extensive testing by the independent German testing institute GUI, and the testing showed that the patented technology of AirMaster is eight times more effective in trapping

particulate matter than hard floors, and four times more effective than a standard carpet.
Darren Congdon, Interior Designer at MG Barkers, said: “For a new product, Desso AirMaster had already been very well received in some of our recent projects, with its durability and cleanliness properties it was a good choice for this application. The colour tones also matched our company branding and we have been able to make a feature of the walkways and stairways with the striking red hints.”
Commenting on the overall project, Darren Congdon continued: “The existing office space within the new warehouse was not adequate in size so the design department devised plans that would increase the office element three times over. We did this by extending a mezzanine area to create two levels, the
main focus being the first floor working showroom.”
On the ground floor, Desso’s Cradle to Cradle certified carpet tiles Neo and Neo Core were chosen in a striking lime green shade, as these are the colours that fitted with the company’s corporate branding and look. The long linear lines of Neo, with its vibrant green stripes against a dark charcoal background, were then installed to help breakup the areas within the open space.
Commenting on the particular considerations for the design of the project Darren Congdon added: “The solutions chosen for this project best represent our industry through choice of supplier and also the dynamic look and feel of the carpet tiles selected. The carpet tiles have been well received by staff and visitors alike.”
The Desso engineered AirMaster product is constructed from a combination of high and low rib structures. The high pile consists of ultra fine yarn filaments capturing and retaining the smallest particulate matter, and the coarser dust is captured in the thick yarns of the lower pile. The open product structure ensures that dust is easily released during cleaning, to ensure maximum regeneration of the carpet’s filtering functionality, making this is the perfect solution for busy commercial environments.
