There is a saying that the more things change, the more they stay the same. We know that our industry has seen enormous changes and yet still has need for the skills that only experience can bring. The challenges presented by new flooring techniques and the needs of health and safety have meant that both equipment manufacturers and cleaning professionals have had to adapt, learn new skills and above all, remain flexible in their approach. For instance, has a rotary machine ever been just a rotary machine? Most contractors will need to scrub, polish, perhaps carry out some marble restoration, sand a wood floor or scarify ice from a walk-in freezer. The machine therefore needs to be strong, able to take extra weights, have a wide range of accessories and be available in a choice of speeds, perhaps also a multi-speed?
For 40 years, Numatic machines have been unrivalled in strength and longevity, built on 1.0hp and 1.5hp motors with planetary- driven gearboxes giving long life and robust performance. A wide range of brushes, pad drives and specialist cleaning heads can be added to answer any flooring issue.

With a rise in H&S related issues, both builders and architects are specifying more and more non slip surfaces and tile manufacturers have also been quick to produce a new range of products. This can put more pressure on those involved in cleaning, especially in the leisure sector. Numatic have worked very closely over the years with flooring and chemical companies to produce a range of machines capable of coping with the rigors of working on very non-slip surfaces. A factor in cleaning non-slip surfaces is time of course; most chemicals would need a minimum of three minutes contact time and unless staff are aware of the potential problems with using an inappropriate chemical, they could be adding to the slip problem. solving cleaning problems both here in the UK and across the world.
