Kärcher Professional: efficiency in Anthracite
The name Kärcher is synonymous with high performance, quality and innovation, and for cleaning expertise that sets standards. As the inventor of high-pressure cleaners, Kärcher is today a world market leader and one of the driving forces behind technological developments, in this, and many other fields.
The most recent milestone in this development is the anthracite colour system that is now used for all Kärcher Professional machines, including high-pressure cleaners, scrubber driers, sweepers, vacuums and steam cleaners. The colour change has created a clear differentiation between consumer-use products (yellow) and commercial-use products (anthracite), and is part of a strategic realignment of the entire company to focus on the customer.
“Our focus,” said Hartmut Jenner, Chairman of the Kärcher Management Board, “is on ensuring that our customers’ needs are totally satisfied. The new colour is an important step in that direction in that it makes it much easier for them to choose the category of equipment they require. Their expectations of our brand are the starting point and destination of how we think and act.”
A further advantage of anthracite as a colour is that it fits inconspicuously into its surroundings. It is also a colour that is more resistant to dirt, reducing the effort and expense required to keep machines clean, while colour coding makes Kärcher’s professional products easier to operate and maintain. Controls that are required for the cleaning process are yellow and those that relate to maintenance and servicing are light grey.
High-pressure cleaners for
contract cleaning With a wide range of machines available, using either cold or hot water and with a variety of power options, Kärcher has a high-pressure cleaner to suit your cleaning requirements. Here, we explain the different types of machine available and how they can help you to maximise your productivity.
Cold water or hot water? For spot cleaning and outdoor cleaning, cold water high-pressure washers clean effectively thanks to the high impact pressure they provide. Machines with high water flow also help to flush away dirt and rinse quickly. With cold water machines, the temperature has no influence on the cleaning action, but for removing stubborn dirt like oil and grease, cleaning results can be improved by using detergents. Kärcher’s range of detergents is designed to be as environmentally friendly and cost-efficient as possible, by use of high concentrations to reduce packaging, and special additives to separate oil from water.
Hot water high-pressure washers increase the supplied water temperature to up to 80°C for general cleaning or up to 150°C for steam cleaning. This allows a reduction of the working pressure, cleaning time and the amount of detergent needed. Cleaning with hot water is quicker than with cold water because hot water shifts oil and grease more easily. Objects cleaned with hot water also dry more quickly, so the finished result is often better.

Although hot water machines need diesel to fuel the burner as well as electricity to power the motor, running costs can often be lower than cold water machines due to this increased cleaning efficiency and the resulting reduction in labour and detergent costs.
The right accessories to
speed up the job Using the right accessories can have a major impact on productivity, costs and time. Simple devices such as washing brushes and Dirt Blaster power nozzles can really improve cleaning performance. Hard surface cleaners are ideal for contract cleaners as they provide a very uniform finish and drastically reduce the amount of time needed to clean floors and walls. The highly innovative FRV 30 hard surface cleaner attaches to a pressure washer to clean floors and walls quickly and very thoroughly, and features a unique venturi system that automatically pumps cleaning water away – meaning that the object being cleaned dries more quickly but with no extra power or water being used, and making it ideal for indoor or outdoor use.
