Chromatography 5 Expanded HPLC system enhances spectral insights for biopharma QC

Waters Corporation has added photodiode array (PDA) detection to its Alliance iS Bio HPLC product line, further supporting spectral analysis for biopharmaceutical development and quality control.

The enhanced system delivers up to 80× greater out-of-the-box sensitivity when paired with MaxPeak™ Premier columns, improves reproducibility more than threefold, and reduces carryover by up to two orders of magnitude. PDA detection enables multi-wavelength analysis, impurity profi ling, and peak purity assessment.

Designed to minimise user error and streamline workfl ows, the platform is available in four confi gurations for small- and large-molecule analysis. It is fully compatible with Waters’ Empower™ Chromatography Data System and laboratory information management systems (LIMS). The system has also been awarded ACT environmental certifi cation by My Green Lab.

Ready-to-use disposable vacuum fi ltration unit

The SOLVFIL X™ from Microsolv is a ready-to-use disposable vacuum fi ltration device designed for glass bottles with a 45 mm neck diameter. It features a unique pleated cartridge fi lter built into the cap, allowing for high-speed fi ltration and enhanced throughput with organic solvents and chemicals.

Delivering high-speed performance, the unit can fi lter more than 1000 ml per minute at a vacuum pressure of 500 mm Hg, making it ideal for busy lab environments. The built-in Nylon 66 membrane ensures effi cient fi ltration while maintaining low extractables in accordance with USP <661> standards, contributing to the purity of fi ltered solutions.

A conical cartridge design promotes smooth operation by directing air bubbles away from the membrane surface, helping to prevent blockages and ensuring consistent fl ow. Suitable for use with organic solvents and mobile phase buffers, the SOLVFIL X™ offers a versatile solution for a wide range of liquid preparation needs in chromatography workfl ows.

Automation module adds compatibility with OpenLab CDS

The Molnár-Institute for Applied Chromatography is excited to announce the launch of a new version of its groundbreaking DryLab®

Automation Module, now fully compatible

with Agilent’s OpenLab CDS chromatography data system software. This new release expands the module’s capabilities, previously available exclusively for the Waters Empower CDS, and brings enhanced functionality to a broader user base.

Previously, Empower CDS users could leverage DryLab® set method creation, facilitate the acquisition of DryLab®

to automate sample input and verifi cation

experiments, and retrieve processed chromatograms and key peak data directly from the CDS database, all without manual export steps. Now, Agilent OpenLab CDS users can experience these same benefi ts and more with this seamless integration.

The integration between DryLab® by enabling automated data import directly into DryLab®

and OpenLab CDS signifi cantly increases effi ciency . This streamlines the

workfl ow, accelerates method evaluation, and reduces the risk of manual transfer errors, ultimately improving data consistency throughout the process.

It also enhances reproducibility. The direct connection between the two platforms ensures a smooth, uninterrupted workfl ow that consistently delivers highly reproducible results during method development and optimisation.

In addition, the integration is designed for seamless network compatibility. It requires only a straightforward DryLab®

update on the Agilent OpenLab client, allowing the

automation module to be quickly incorporated into existing network infrastructure and providing effortless access across the laboratory system.

This new release brings the power of DryLab® ’s cutting-edge analytical software to

Agilent OpenLab CDS users, empowering them with increased productivity, better accuracy, and enhanced method development. The integration highlights Molnár- Institute’s ongoing commitment to advancing chromatographic science through innovative, user-friendly software solutions.
