Laboratory Products 25 Smart immersion coolers for eco-friendly labs
When it comes to dissipating large amounts of heat quickly and hassle-free, the new Julabo immersion coolers are the perfect choice. Ideal for simple, open-bath applications as well as for industrial processes such as cold traps in distillation - wherever flexibility and efficiency are required.
Immersion coolers always come into play when the temperature control medium does not need to be actively circulated - for example during manual stirring or mechanical movement. In such cases, they offer a particularly simple and effective solution for process cooling.
When it comes to bringing fluids quickly and hassle-free to low temperatures or efficiently counter-cooling heating circulators, the new Julabo immersion coolers from the IC Series are the first choice. Equipped with environmentally friendly, natural refrigerants, the IC40, IC50 and IC50E models combine powerful cooling performance with a clear commitment to climate protection.
Thanks to well thought-out details, the immersion coolers set new standards in terms of functionality and ease of maintenance. For example, the venting grid can be removed without tools - for quick cleaning and maximum performance over the long term. The magnetic probe holder allows flexible attachment to metallic surfaces and ensures stable measuring conditions for a wide range of applications.
The IC50E is particularly smart: with an auto-start function, intuitive menu and an ergonomically inclined OLED touch display that is easy to read from different viewing angles. Clear warnings and comprehensible messages in full text make handling safe and self-explanatory.
Robust, powerful and ready for immediate use: Julabo immersion coolers are the smart answer to spontaneous cooling requirements - right where they are needed. More information online:

New analytical and precision balances
Advanced water quality testing solutions
Bluephage SL, a leader in microbiological water testing, has introduced two innovative product lines to enhance laboratory efficiency and water quality testing standards. These additions reinforce Bluephage’s commitment to delivering advanced, customer-centric solutions for water analysis worldwide.
The company has updated its Positive Control Kits, now available in two specialised formats: BP1626a and BP1626b. These kits, designed for coliphage enumeration, now contain 25 units per box - five more than the previous version - offering better value and flexibility. Laboratories can now purchase these controls separately, optimising inventory management.
KERN & SOHN GmbH is launching new analytical and precision balances in the KERN ADS/ADT ranges (analytical balances) and KERN PDS/ PDT ranges (precision balances). Designed for laboratories, industry, and research, they offer high measurement accuracy.
They are equipped with a semi-touch display, which offers a combination of a touchscreen as well as the standard control buttons. The main functions, such as switching the weighing unit or carrying out the adjustment can be activated directly from the display.
There are two ways to carry out the adjustment. ADT (analytical) and PDT (precision) models have automatic adjustment with an internal weight, while ADS and PDS models use an external weight. This ensures flexibility for different applications and environments.
The new models provide rapid, stable measuring results through modern sensor technology. They offer various functions for diverse applications. The statistics function calculates key figures such as the average value and standard deviation. Tolerance weighing checks whether a weight is within predefined limits, piece counting determines quantities using a reference weight, and percentage weighing displays a sample’s weight as a percentage of a reference value.
Several transfer options are available for data processing. The Windows-Direct function sends weights directly to a Windows application using a USB device connection. As an alternative, the measurements can be forwarded to connected systems using RS 232 and USB (device).
The KERN Communication Protocol allows connection to a computer or CRM/ERP system, enabling measurement retrieval and remote control in automated processes. All models allow for GLP/ISO compliant data logging, recording date, time, and a unique ID for each adjustment or weighing. This guarantees complete traceability and supports use in regulated laboratory and production environments in accordance with the requirements of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

The BP1626a kit is tailored for use with the Easy Kit BP1601 (1 ml samples), while BP1626b is optimised for the Easy Kit BP1604 (100 ml samples). Positive controls play a crucial role in ensuring accuracy and reliability in coliphage testing by introducing a known quantity of the φX174 bacteriophage, a global reference for detecting somatic coliphages. These kits comply with ISO 10705-2, the international standard for coliphage enumeration.
Bluephage is also launching GR8FHDT and GR8FHD, filterable formats of the GR8 somatic coliphage, designed to validate bacteriophage concentration in water testing. These products are compatible with Bluephage’s Rapid Kits (BPF-SE, BPF-SPA) and Easy Kits (BP1601, BP1604) and comply with ISO 10705-3, the key standard for bacteriophage concentration.
Bacteriophages often occur in low concentrations in water samples, making concentration methods essential for accurate detection. GR8, isolated from surface water, is an effective surrogate for environmental testing. Its filterable format simplifies laboratory workflows while ensuring adherence to global water safety standards.
With two-year shelf lives and storage at -20°C (GR8FHDT) or -70°C (GR8FHD), these new formats provide long-term, reliable solutions for laboratories.
These new product launches highlight Bluephage’s dedication to innovation, regulatory compliance, and laboratory efficiency in water quality testing.
