Laboratory Products 75 GMP collagen type I additive for reinforcing bioprinted constructs
Produced using dry-spun 50 µm Collagen Type I fi bres, AMSBIO has introduced the innovative CollaFibR™ additive proven to increase the shape fi delity and biological relevance of bioprinted constructs in hydrogels and bioinks.
In the fi eld of personalised tissue engineering, 3D bioprinting shows immense promise, but the challenge lies in achieving both mechanical durability and biological relevance in the printed constructs.
Acting as a physiologically relevant site for cell attachment within constructs - μCollaFibR™ has been shown to improve the shape retention and durability of bioprinted cellular constructs for at least 28 days. Additionally, these short collagen fi bres can enhance the mechanical strength and fl exibility of hydrogels under both tension and compression, proving benefi cial for 3D cell culture applications like organoids.
Offering exceptional chemical stability and easily suspended in aqueous media, including acidic environments, μCollaFibR™ emerges as a versatile option for bioprinting. It is universally compatible with bioprinting materials such as GelMA, alginate, gelatin, and agarose, unlocking boundless possibilities in biomedical research and clinical applications.
Manufactured using GMP compliant protocols with GMP bovine type I collagen, the quality of μCollaFibR™ is validated with a variety of cell lines including fi broblasts, myoblasts, epithelial cells, neural cells, and primary cells such as bone marrow derived MSCs.

Azenta Life Sciences has prepared an informative new video demonstrating the walkaway productivity achievable using its Automated Individual Access Roll Heat Sealer in molecular diagnostics, drug discovery and kit manufacturing applications.
The new video illustrates key benefi ts of the Automated Individual Access Roll Heat Sealer that include operational fl exibility, reproducible sealing, intuitive operation and plug-and-play robotic integration.
This unique automated heat sealer can seal individual wells or tubes, enabling researchers to leverage the benefi ts of the Azenta Individual Access plate and seal range while maintaining the gold standard heat sealing provided by the device.
The Individual Access plate and seal range is based upon a plate design with individually removable wells, together with seals consisting of individual foil seal spots. Individual sealing enables selection and removal of tubes from the plate and is a fl exible solution with the ability to also seal custom shapes with custom seals.
The high sealing pressure and accurate time and temperature controls used by Automated Individual Access Roll Heat Sealer deliver reproducible seal uniformity on a wide range of microplates.
User set-up is via a colour touch screen with intuitive user interface. To aid productivity, the Automated Individual Access Roll Heat Sealer provides the facility for saving password protected protocols and SOPs containing set temperatures and times.
Offering the versatility to be optimised for almost any sample integrity maintenance application – the instrument is ‘plug and play’ connectable with other instruments, such as readers, robotic arms, and liquid handlers, to give a custom automated system without the need to write expensive custom drivers.
