Standards Added to Application Finder
Regulatory compliance is an indispensable aspect of quality control in nearly all industries. Knowing whether a given analytical method meets the relevant standard is therefore decisive in setting up QC procedures. To facilitate this assessment, Metrohm has added a new fi lter for standards to the Application Finder on its website.
The numerous standards issued by national and international standards organisations, standard-developing organisations (SDO), and standards bodies, e.g., AOAC, ASTM, BIS, DIN, ISO, EPA, Ph. Eur., UOP, or USP, have had a major impact in improving the safety and quality of products. However, it is not always easy for manufacturers to decide whether procedures in quality control labs comply with the methods described in the standards.
New Green Line Equipment for Biopharmaceutical Laboratories Showcased at Expoquimia 2017
New green line laboratory equipment developed by Telstar for pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, hospital and research centres was promoted at Expoquimia 2017 (Barcelona, 2-6 October). The company exhibited laminar fl ow ecocabinets, biological safety cabinets, laboratory freeze-dryers and ultra-low temperature freezers designed and manufactured for research and formulation using in-house freeze-drying, clean air and cold storage technologies. Developed under sustainable production, the equipment combines energetic effi ciency and eco-design technology including the latest developments in ergonomics adapted to work environment characteristics, process analysis, trials, and production requirements.
During Expoquimia Telstar displayed the new range of laminar flow ecocabinets Aeolus, particularly suitable for handling non-pathogenic samples. This range of cabinets offers up to 35% less power consumption than the typical marketplace equivalent and are designed to provide protection for the product in an ISO 4 sterile environment. Aeolus integrates energy saving EC fans and an automatic airflow velocity control system, ensuring optimised protection levels. Aeolus offers an extremely low sound level, and up to 20% more sterile working area, whilst maintaining a compact external footprint.
Telstar also promoted the latest developments in process equipment solutions: BioVanguard, a range high quality Class II Biological Safety Cabinets designed to be used for high risk microbiological research and in highly toxic applications, which was introduced in both customised and standardised versions. Bio II Advance, a new generation of compact BSC with an innovative design that offers a body 20% smaller than the market average whist maintaining the standard work space. Igloo, the new line of compact, ecological and green -86º ultra-low temperature freezers for secure preservation of samples; and LyoBeta Mini, an innovative compact pilot-scale freeze dryer designed in twin-vessel confi guration, with an external condenser of capacity 6kg. A bench-top freeze dryer conceived for applications in research and formulation to develop recipes for pharmaceutical freeze-drying processes.

Website visitors can now select the relevant standard and thus have only those application documents displayed that are in accordance with this standard. Combined with the existing fi lters for analyte/parameter, matrix, industry, and analytical method, this new fi lter allows website visitors to fi nd the relevant application document more easily.
