UK FOCUS vii Weatherproof noise-activated hearing protection signs

One of Pulsar Instruments’ most popular noise warning products, the Pulsar SafeEar, has now been made weatherproof. This new IP65 rated weatherproof noise activated warning sign lights up to warn site workers and visitors when noise levels have exceeded a pre-set decibel trigger. The sign will indicate that hearing protection must be worn, and when the light goes off workers know it is safe to remove their hearing PPE.

The SafeEar is ideal for industrial processes, construction sites, outdoor maintenance areas, exteriors of business premises and environments where water or high levels of moisture and dust may be present.

These signs don’t have to be only used outside. As the signs are IP65 rated they can be used in any area where moisture might be present or in areas that undergo high levels of industrial cleaning. They can also be used outside business premises to help people keep their noise levels down to reduce the risks of noise complaints.

drinking water

Checking water quality, in applications as diverse as regulatory testing of drinking water and swimming pool maintenance, is easy with the CA10141 portable conductivity meter from Chauvin Arnoux. This compact, handheld instrument, which features a fully waterproof design with an IP67 ingress protection rating, offers fast and reliable measurement of conductivity, TDS (total dissolved solids), salinity and temperature with all results clearly displayed on a large backlit LCD screen.

Simplicity of operation and rugged construction combined with high accuracy make this novel instrument an ideal choice for use wherever it is necessary to monitor water quality. Typical applications include checking drinking water in compliance with the Drinking Water Directive 98/83/EC, checking salinity and conductivity of water used in food manufacturing processes, measuring the conductivity of water in industrial boilers, confi rming water quality in swimming pools and monitoring water in natural pools and rivers as an aid to detecting pollution.

The CA10141 conductivity meter can measure conductivity over the range 0.050 µS/cm to 500.0 mS/cm, TDS from 0.001 mg/l to 499.9 g/l, and salinity from 2.0 to 42.0 psu. It also records the temperature at which the measurements are made over the range -10.0 to +120ºC. In addition to showing the results on its integral LCD screen, the instrument also records them in its internal memory. This can store up to 30,000 time and date-stamped measurements which can subsequently be transferred, via a standard USB link, to a PC for analysis, reporting or archiving.

Equally suitable for use in the laboratory or on site, the Chauvin Arnoux CA10141 portable conductivity meter is supplied as standard in a rigid padded carrying case, together with an XCP4ST1 Capec four-pole conductivity cell with built-in Pt1000 temperature sensor. Also included are a ready-to-use 1408 µS/ cm conductivity standard, a plastic beaker, a wrist strap and a quick-start guide. Other conductivity standards are available as options, as are adaptors for using conductivity cells with DIN, BNC, S7 and jack connectors.

HORIBA announce that its PG-350 Portable Automated Measuring System (P-AMS) is now MCERTs certifi ed according to EN 15267-4

For situations when you can only take measurements in the fi eld, but you want the same precision that you get in the laboratory, HORIBA presents the Portable Automated Measuring System - PG- 350 P-AMS.

The HORIBA PG-350 P-AMS offers the same accuracy and reliability as laboratory measurements in a portable and durable unit, that is light and has fast response time. With a shortened warm up time, a high visibility touch screen, high accuracy in measuring crucial components in the fi eld and the durability to facilitate mobile measurement, the HORIBA PG-350 P-AMS is the analyser system of the future.

Part of the highly successful and acclaimed PG-300 series, the PG-350 P-AMS launched in July 2020 and has recently been successfully certifi ed according to MCERTs as fulfi lling the requirements of the EN 15267 part 1, 2 and 4 for the periodic measurement of stationary source emissions from stationary sources (QAL1).

The HORIBA PG-350 P-AMS system consists of a probe, a heated line, a gas sampling system (PSS-5H) and the PG-350EU as the gas analyser. When all items are used together, the complete system satisfi es the requirements EN 12567-4.

Building on the original robust PG-300 design, the whole system is IP42 compliant according to EN 60529, affording protection against dust and light rain. It can, therefore, be used in demanding and challenging measuring locations without the need for a separate waterproof cover or bag. All this was achieved without signifi cantly increasing the weight of the components or compromising design and performance.

The Standard Reference Method (SRM) is the European Standard for the periodic monitoring and for the calibration or control of Automatic Measuring Systems (AMS),permanently installed on a stack for regulatory or other purposes. The recognised technology for the SRM method for Oxygen (O2) is paramagnetic (PMA), for Nitrogen Oxides (NOX) is chemiluminescence (CLD) and for carbon monoxide (CO) it is Non-Dispersive Infrared absorption (NDIR). Improvements in the sensitivity of the renowned HORIBA CLD detector technology enabled the realisation of the lowest certifi ed NOx measuring range to date (102.5 mg.m-3 / 50 ppm) for portable analysers.

The PG-350EU has a highly visible and easy to operate LCD colour touch screen that make on-site measurements easy and simple. Data is readily saved on a SD™ memory card for easy transfer to a PC or laptop. The unit is equipped with a screen capture function as a standard feature, enabling necessary data to be saved on the spot. An intuitive on-screen guidance function is available, in cases when the operator’s manual is not at hand.
