28 WWEM Preview Flow Monitoring for Trade Effluent Discharge

Detectronic return to WWEM featuring the latest version of their successful multi sensor flow monitor (MSFM), the remote communicating MSFM Series 2 ultrasonic flow monitor. In addition stand visitors can see the compact MFSM lite, DET5 CM fixed site flow monitor and live analysis software.

Widely used by water utilities, contractors and regulatory bodies, the MSFM is an area velocity flow meter that offers accurate flow measurement in sewers, industrial effluent discharges and open channels. The ultrasonic flow monitor has advanced features such as a debris shedding sensor, long-life Lithium-ion battery and an accessible architecture where all components can be removed in seconds. The unit is packaged on a compact, robust and corrosion resistant chassis.

Frequently employed in studies supporting integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC), Detectronic equipment is ideal for trade effluent discharge monitoring for Environment Agency compliance. Industries such as paper, brewing and food production are typical IPPC survey subjects. Flow survey contractors also commonly employ these instruments for whole catchment area hydrological surveys to model drainage performance. Stored data is reliably uploaded daily via the GSM phone network. For data analysis the system is fully compatible with FloWorks, GoData, Clarifica, Infoworks and other leading modelling programs.

Recognising that units may be employed in potentially explosive situations MSFM units have ATEX/IECEx approval. Pioneers in this technology, several Detectronic staff each have over 20 years experience in the industry with applications knowledge that they will be happy to share with visitors. Research and development director Dr Keith Kirby and commercial director David Walker will be presenting workshops on days one and two.

Reader Reply Card No. New Range of Multiparameter Probes Launched at WWEM

Aquaread are pleased to be exhibiting again at this year’s WWEM exhibition, we will be situated on stands 82 and 83 for double the coverage of 2010.

Since our last visit we have refreshed our entire range of products. During the March 2012 ArabLAB exhibition in Dubai, we launched an impressive 12 new sensors and 2 brand new multiparameter probes; one portable and one for long term deployment with self-cleaning. These new probes have many unique features that are making them sell like hot cakes! But we like to keep busy, and as a result, this year’s exhibition will see us launching more exciting products including another multiparameter probe, plus the release of a new full range of monitoring probes.

We would also welcome you to our workshop sessions held on Wednesday 11am in room 5 titled: High resolution environmental monitoring to support the development of water quality legislation. If you can’t make this session, no problem, we will be showing it again on Thursday at 12.

Ultrasonic Controllers Help Reduce Operating Costs

Reducing operating costs is a key business target for plants in the water industry, so Siemens has developed the world’s most accurate ultrasonic controller series for level measurement - the Sitrans LUT400 which will be on show at the WWEM exhibition on stands 67 & 68.

The compact, single point ultrasonic controllers continuously monitor and control level in liquids, solids or slurry applications.

The controllers offer the highest accuracy available, ensuring consistently precise measurements to help

plants reduce energy usage and increase operational efficiency. Due to unbeaten precision of the devices, operators can be confident of level and flow measurements.

Cylinders Get Individual Identities

The roll-out of BOC’s (UK) Cylinder Tracking System, which will electronically record and track the location, movement and content of every BOC cylinder in the UK and Ireland, was inaugurated at a ceremony in Aberdeen today (25 April). Nathan Palmer, BOC’s Director of Bulk and Packaged Gases, presented a certificate to Garry Stephen, Managing Director of Aberdeen-based Oil States Industries (UK), the recipients of the first officially-tracked industrial gas cylinder in the country. Oil States Industries provides engineering services to the oil and gas industry worldwide.

The ceremony also marked the completion of a three- year project by BOC to develop a system robust enough to track its inventory of several million cylinders in the UK, while flexible enough to deal with the different ways in which customers buy products and services from the company, a member of the international Linde Group.

“Up to the minute accurate information about inventory is vitally important in today’s fast moving business environment,” noted Nathan Palmer. “BOC supplies every sector of the UK economy and we have many customers for whom our products are business-critical. So we have developed this system as an additional service to help all our customers manage their stock holdings more easily and efficiently.”

New applications for Water Quality Monitors Unveiled at WWEM 2012

The Intellisonde water quality monitors were first launched at WWEM 2008 and product specialist Jo Cooper says “Intellitect’s involvement in the 2012 event will provide visitors with feedback on the many unique advantages of the technology from applications all over the world.”

Intellisondes are now available in a variety of different formats, depending on the application, and the Intellitect Water stand (No. 54) will feature examples of Intellisondes for in-pipe process or drinking water, river and effluent monitoring.

Intellitect will also run a free Workshop at WWEM 2012 in room 3 at 10am on Thursday 8th November entitled: ‘Real-time Monitoring of Final Effluent - Ammonium and other Key Parameters.’
