LuminOx Fluorescent Oxygen Sensor Gains A Competitive Edge
Commitment to Service & Support
Figure 1: Effect of 250mbar Pressure Pulse at 21% O2
Figure 2: Effect of two 20mbar Pressure Pulses at 21% O2 Electrochemical sensors are extremely sensitive to changes in the gas pressure, even when the O2 concentration remains constant.
LuminOx from SST Sensing (UK) is available in two versions: LOX-01 (without built-in pressure compensation) and LOX-02 (which contains a barometric pressure sensor).
LOX-01 measures oxygen partial pressure between 0 and 300mbar. If the total gas pressure changes, then the ppO2
LuminOx reports this. LOX-02 reports both oxygen pressure (ppO2
pressure and the ppO2 in mbar) and O2 concentration (vol. % O2 and the gas temperature was held at 20o changes and ), the latter being calculated from the total gas . This means that LuminOx will continue to read the correct oxygen concentration, even during rapid pressure
changes. LuminOx is also able to transmit the total gas pressure to the host via the two-wire communications interface. Three sensors were supplied with 21% O2
% reported by the three sensors is measured on the left axis. A similar test was performed with smaller (20mbar) positive and negative pulses. (See Figure 2)
LuminOx is affected slightly but only briefly during the pressure event. The electrochemical sensors are affected significantly (the O2
% error is as large as 34%) and the disturbance in the output lasts considerably longer. Reader Reply Card No. 30 C. A pump was used to introduce a brief pulse of
positive pressure of around 250mbar. The blue line in Figure 1 is the pressure measured inside the test enclosure. The pressure is read on the axis to the right of the graph. The O2
Trolex (UK), specialists in gas detection and environmental monitoring systems have extended their warranty period to two years, providing additional cover for all of their equipment.
This new extended warranty period continues Trolex’s dedicated commitment to quality products and services. As their customers already count on the performance and reliability of their products, Trolex’s new warranty extension strengthens the value of their investment.
New Chinese and German Websites Launched
Trolex (UK), specialists in gas detection and environmental monitoring has launched two new websites.
The launch of the new websites is to ensure that its message on safety is heard, and that access is available to its gas and environmental sensing solutions in these key markets. Trolex is investing heavily in developing partnerships in support centres around the world.
Trolex has also developed a Chinese brochure and a set of datasheets and is now working on a Polish version too. A Spanish version of the Mining Brochure is also available to view online.
The sites include all elements of the English language website and will cater for all aspects of the Chinese and German market in mining, tunnelling, industry, gas recovery and rail. With both Chinese-speaking and German-speaking staff at Trolex, the company can offer customer support and technical support for new and existing customers in these key markets and the websites make all the information easily accessible to them.
Trolex believes safety is paramount in the mining industry and wants to bring the message that investing in production efficiency and mine automation has an immediate positive effect. Developing these websites has enabled Trolex to further this message.
