Gas Detection New Network Survey Software Offers Traceability and User-friendliness


New safety legislation in Europe requires gas distribution companies to monitor their networks on a regular basis (once, twice or three times a year depending on the country). As a result, they are under an increasing obligation to guarantee traceability of their surveys by providing precise location and dating of gas concentrations measured.


Systematic leak detection is therefore part of the overall safety policy of gas distribution companies vis-à-vis the community and their own workforce. Aimed at the early identification of any deterioration of the network, systematic leak detection enables timely remedial action. But network surveys are also part of any maintenance policy, with the dual aim of increased safety and operating efficiency.

Eager to meet gas companies’ traceability requirements, GAZOMAT™ introduces a new survey software. Designed to ensure total traceability of network monitoring, both from vehicles and on-foot, the NGS software controls the whole measurement system and provides:


•Real-time visualisation on the downloaded road map of the operator’s position and the survey mission’s progress, plus any gas concentration detected. •Permanent saving of key survey data, such as concentrations measured, associated GPS coordinates, precise address on the map and operator comments. •An interactive and simplified interface with the operator, including pop-up windows and easy-to-understand graphics to guide the operator throughout the mission.


•A GPS type mapping system – the software integrates a GPS type map, which gas companies can supplement further with building or pipeline network maps in SHAPE format, a standard format used worldwide.


•A final survey report in PDF format compiling the information on the survey mission, as well as all events recorded during the mission plus functional tests of the measurement equipment.

New! Network Survey Vehicle for Pedestrian Areas


GAZOMAT™* S.A.R.L. will introduce shortly the Eco INSPECTRA®


survey vehicle. The vehicle


complements the INSPECTRA product range developed by GAZOMAT™ for natural gas distribution network surveys.


The purpose of the Eco INSPECTRA vehicle is to provide gas pipeline operators with a simple, easy-to-use tool that can survey pedestrian areas not accessible to traditional survey vehicles.


The Eco INSPECTRA offers all the


performance and functionality of the traditional INSPECTRA network survey vehicle (VSR) created by GAZOMAT™ but in a much smaller size:


•Equipped with the exclusive INSPECTRA analyser integrating a high performance laser diode and multipass cell, the measurement system of the Eco INSPECTRA provides 1 ppm


sensibility and total sensitivity to methane. •Air sampling proceeds through 4 suction hoses fitted at the front of the vehicle via an additional pump. The system is supplemented by a hand-held sampling rod which the operator will also use to check gas meters while remaining seated.


•The whole measurement system is controlled by the new NGS Network Survey software.


•The GPS Tablet System consisting of a rugged laptop PC and an efficient external GPS receiver provides real-time visualisation of the survey mission. Using the customer’s proprietary maps, the NGS software ensures total traceability of the survey, with an automatically generated report at the end of each survey.


•Powered by a 24 V electric engine with an operating range of 40 kms, the vehicle makes it possible for the survey operator to work an entire day without reloading batteries.


•Stable, comfortable, and easy to drive, the Eco INSPECTRA device reduces the survey team to the sole operator, for significant gains in operating costs.


Combining the latest GAZOMAT™ network survey innovations, the Eco INSPECTRA vehicle is a cost-efficient alternative to on-foot detection in areas not accessible to the traditional VSR.
