New COD Thermoreactor and Photometer for 24 Simultaneous Measurements
(Germany) has introduced the RD125, a new thermoreactor for the the rapid heating and digestion of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) vials in a safe and secure environment. An easy-to-use membrane keypad enables users to select the required temperature from a choice of three options: 100o
Tintometer® C, 120o
be set for continuous operation. Designed to heat up from 20o
C to 150o C or 150o C; with three pre-selection times of 30, 60 and 120 minutes. Alternatively, the unit can C in just 12 minutes, the RD125 ensures the rapid digestion and preparation of samples for reading.
When digestion is complete, the reactor automatically switches off and gives a corresponding LED indication with short beep alarm. As a safety precaution, the reactor is also designed for protection against overheating at 190o
C. The RD125 complements the newly introduced MD 100 COD Photometer from Lovibond Tintometer where photometric detection
measures the COD concentration in mg/l O2. The MD100 COD is supplied as a standalone replacement unit or as a COD measurement set including the reactor, two packs of COD (small scale Sealed Tube) tubes: one set for LR measurements of 0-150 mg/l and one for MR measurements of 0-1500 mg/l and full instructions. The Photometer’s waterproof sample chamber, large digital display and user-friendly keypad ensure maximum operating reliability and convenience.

The pump is compact at only 17 mm wide, has a flow rate up to 1.8 L/Min, vacuum up to 500 mbar absolute and high gas tightness. Also no contamination and maintenance free. Reader Reply Card no 113
Expanded Water Quality Parameters for Colorimeter Gives Greater Flexibility with Tried and Tested Ease of Use
Merck (Germany) has upgraded two Spectroquant ® Picco colorimeters for added convenience and versatility.
With expanded parameters, these colorimeters prove extremely practical wherever users need to monitor drinking water, waste water, the water used in swimming pools, bottled water production, hygiene, and disinfection – directly in the field or production area.
Colorimeter Picco Cl2/O3/ClO2/CyA/pH now features two additional parameters – chlorine dioxide and cyanuric acid. Specialists in the food and chemical industries as well as research and contract labs can now monitor
The Spectroquant®
several basic water quality parameters with just one device. They can also select their preferred method for monitoring free and total chlorine: powder reagents or liquid reagents (for use in very humid environments). The cost-effective colorimeter delivers rapid results, and users will reap the maximum benefit from it with ready-to-use reagent sets and various pack sizes for Spectroquant ® waste water.
Merck has also enhanced the capabilities of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) cell test on the Spectroquant ® Colorimeter Picco COD/CSB. As waste water becomes progressively cleaner, industry professionals need a device that measures increasingly lower amounts of impurities. The colorimeter now offers four measuring ranges, from 10 g/l up down 10 mg/l – ideal for users working with waste water and at sewage treatment plants. Suited for ready-to-use, USEPA approved Spectroquant®
Both the Spectroquant®
COD cell tests, the colorimeter complies with ISO 15705 for all COD tests. Colorimeter Picco Cl2/O3/ClO2/CyA/pH and the Spectroquant®
also measure absorption and store the results of the analysis with a date/time stamp.
These improvements notwithstanding, both colorimeters remain easy to operate and are preprogrammed to use Spectroquant®
test kits. Reader Reply Card no 115 Looking into the Ground
SEWERIN (Germany) sets new standards in locating underground pipes and cables with the UtiliTrac. Locating pipes is simple, even for unexperienced operators, thanks to the 3D pipe diagram and the automatic depth read-out. The trigger-controlled functions ensure comfortable and effortless work even when used over the full working day. Single trigger operation provides the user with intuitive and simple navigation through the menu. The frequency scan function is another advantage that makes a contribution towards easy pipe location.
For further facilitation in field use, the UtiliTrac folds and is carried in the generator´s case and can easily be transported by hand or compactly stowed in a vehicle thanks to its trend- setting ergonomic design. The case provides enough space to accommodate not only the generator with dual output jacks, but also the accessories.
The ability to trace two different, parallel pipelines with two different frequencies by using the dual output jacks is a key advantage of the UtiliTrac compared to competitive products on the market today.
As an alternative to the generator built into the carrying case, the more powerful Generator G1 from the SEWERIN product range can be used. This generator significantly increases the operation range.

Palintest Ltd. (UK) has developed a new high range test for Manganese in drinking water. The new Manganese HR test now offers a market-leading measurement range of 0.02 to 5 mg/l, without the need for pre-test sample dilution.
chlorine and ozone test kits. The chlorine tests are USEPA-approved for chlorine in drinking water and
The test uses the approved standard Formaldoxime method (ISO 6333), and is supplied in packs containing two sets of tablets. One set of tablets is used to prepare the sample, correcting pH level, and the second tablet reacts with the Manganese. The resultant solution develops an orange/brown colour which indicates the concentration. This test is designed to be used with Palintest’s 7100, 7500 and 8000 model Photometers for precise photometric measurement.
