UK Focus New Cooler/Chiller Service Department AS Technical Solutions (UK) are pleased to announce their new cooler/chiller service department. All service staff have been trained at the JCT factory.

AS Technical Solutions are working with JCT to promote their exciting and new product lines, and are pleased to announce the launch of the JPES portable gas sample probe.

Continuing their investment into new product development (they have launched 3 new products in 2010), JCT, the Austrian manufacturer of gas conditioning components, have launched their new portable sample probe: the JPES Series.

Used for applications where periodic monitoring is required over a short time period. Operators and Test Laboratories require lightweight and easy to handle equipment that are designed to meet a whole range of process parameters and regulatory needs.

Traditional methods were expensive, heavyweight and technically poor. The new JPES changes this completely: it is high quality, lightweight, easy to set up and offers the user a superior product that can easily be taken to the sample point with the flexibility to give excellent performance on virtually every application.

The JPES probe works by removing particulates from the gas measurement stream and is the primary filtration device for the overall analysis system. It is fully heated to eliminate cold spots that cause filter element blockages due to the build up of wet particulates. The design and location of the internal heater sensure that the probe has absolutely no cold spots where condensation can form, additionally the clever design of the supplied heated hose means that the temperature controller, thermocouple cable and voltage supply cables are all integrated into the device. This means that the operator has only ONE connection to make to the site power supply.

New Platinum Resistance Thermometer Data Logger

The new PT-104 USB/Ethernet data logger can record 4 channels of temperature, voltage and resistance in any combination. It is compatible with standard, low-cost PT100 and PT1000 platinum resistance thermometers (PRTs) including 2-wire, 3-wire and 4-wire types. By using calibrated reference resistors instead of semi- conductor voltage references in its measuring circuits, the PT-104 is less susceptible to temperature drift, and delivers high stability and accuracy at a surprisingly low cost.

-200 to +800o

The PT-104’s temperature measuring range is C, with an accuracy of 0.01o

and a resolution of 0.001o . Resistance ranges are 0 to

375 ohms and 10 kilohms with an accuracy of 1 microhm, and voltage ranges are 0 to 115 mV and 2.5 V with an accuracy of 156 microvolts. Conversion resolution in all modes is 24 bits.

The PT-104 is supplied with Pico Technology’s PicoLog data logging software, which runs on any Windows PC (Windows XP or later). PicoLog can collect data from any number of PT-104 loggers at programmable intervals from 720 milliseconds per channel up to minutes, hours or even days. Results can be simultaneously displayed in a monitor window with optional limit alarms, and as a live graph and a table. Data can be exported in a standard text format compatible with other spreadsheet and analysis programs.

The dual USB/Ethernet interface allows the logger to be used in a variety of situations such as USB-only, USB-powered with Ethernet interface, and Ethernet with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). Using the Ethernet interface, the PT-104 can be located anywhere on a LAN or on the global internet.

As the chosen partner of the Environment Agency to run the MCERTS certification schemes, Sira provides test, assessment and auditing services for both manufacturers and operators to fulfil their environmental responsibilities.

WWEM 2010 Review

At WWEM 2010, the focal point over the 2 day show was MCERTS. A number of announcements were made at the WWEM Gala Dinner detailing products that have obtained MCERTS certification, and those manufacturers that wish to promote they are progressing through the MCERTS certification scheme.

WWEM Conference

Bob Cooper, Sira Director, discussed the progress to date on the MCERTS effluent flow scheme at the main conference. The emphasis of the presentation focussed on the strong need for maintenance of flow monitoring systems, which

has been highlighted as one of the most common problems across the >3000 sites that have been inspected under the self-monitoring of effluent flow scheme. More details on the conference paper are available on request.
