Flow Level Pressure 21 Ultrasonic Transducers for Level Measurement

Pulsar Process Measurement’s (UK) new range of self-contained, intelligent non-contacting ultrasonic level measurement transducers make use of HART (4-20mA loop powered) and Profibus PA communications protocols to make plant integration simple. dBi Transducers can represent distance, level, space, or volume as the output from the unit and are available with either 3m, 6m, 10m or 15m range. All dBi Transducers feature Pulsar’s world-leading DATEM echo processing software and are programmable either via a PC or through a proprietary calibration unit. Pulsar’s dBi Intelligent Transducers make installation simple and take accuracy to a new level for your solids or liquids application.

Pulsar’s dBi Series Transducers are low-power devices featuring Pulsar’s world-leading DATEM echo processing power for robust and reliable measurement from 125mm through to 15m (5 inches to 49 feet) depending on the unit chosen. Integration with plant systems and other equipment is straightforward. dBi Transducers support GSD, EDDL, FDT/DTM (available on request), making it easy to configure and calibrate the devices using standard PLC/HMI industry protocols, providing options to program the transducers using either a standard interface or using Pulsar’s programming parameters.

Intelligent Transducers are available as HART or Profibus PA devices in a range of models, and can be specified in various formats to suit the application, for example flanged, PTFE coated for corrosive applications, fitted with foam face or submergence shield and with threaded noses for easy installation. For solids applications, dBi Transducers are compatible with Pulsar’s aiming kit for the best possible results and to measure right down to the draw-off point of a bin or silo.

dBi Intelligent Transducers provide on-board conversion for volume with a number of pre-set tank shapes, plus the ability to curve-fit to non-standard shapes. The output from the unit can represent distance, level, space, or volume.

Ultrasonic Flow Meter for Applications Requiring a High Degree of Cleanliness

Constructed from Victrex PEEK polymer - the low cost, high accuracy Atrato ultrasonic flow meter from Titan Enterprises (UK) sets a new standard for flow monitoring applications requiring a high degree of cleanliness.

Accurate and cost effective flow measurement is increasingly important to industries requiring a high degree of cleanliness including pharmaceuticals, industrial engineering and food and beverages. The Atrato flow meter leverages Titan's patented ultrasonic flow meter technology enabling the direct-through meter to handle flows from laminar to turbulent. The device deploys the 'time of flight' measurement system where a signal is passed along the pipe with the flow and back up the pipe against the flow, the difference in these signals produces the flow rate.

In developing the ATRATO, Titan Enterprises selected a high performance polymer that would enable the thread forms which attach the flow meter to the flow pipes to be moulded. This was not possible to achieve using traditional metal thread

forms. The polymer also needed to be chemically resistant and have the capability to operate at high temperature up to 110ºC (230ºF). Due to its intended use in beverage dispensing applications the material needed to be FDA compliant. Additionally, low moisture absorption was a prerequisite for medical and pharmaceutical applications.

The Atrato's unique clean bore construction makes it ideal for these applications. The smooth finish achieved in the bore of the Victrex PEEK polymer- based components aids the flow of liquids. In addition, the polymer's high resistance to cleaning fluids and solvents enhances the cleaning process.

The increasing requirements of the international and regulatory standards for offshore valve products have seen a greater demand from end users for exotic materials and specialist testing requirements.

The Budenberg (UK) Monoflange and modular Double Block & Bleed valve ranges are being continually being developed to meet these increasing requirements including compliance to the MESC SPE 77/312 standard for Fugitive Emissions and the Petrofac Low Temperature tests.

Budenberg Ltd is able to keep pace with the market demands due to its commitment to its own in-house design and machining facility that enables them to provide a quick delivery of its DBB Valves or provide a fast track for prototype or special products to suit an individual requirement.

Paul Holland, Marketing Director said “We are proud of the quality that we put into our products both in terms of its design and the materials we use during manufacture. With a 165 year heritage of manufacturing instrumentation products, we understand the demands of the market and will always put quality as the premier requirement for any of our products".

Budenberg Gauge Company started manufacturing instrumentation products in the UK from 1850 with their first factory in Whitworth Street Manchester before moving to Woodfield Road, Altrincham. They now operate from Gilchrist Road, Irlam, Manchester where the tradition for quality and reliability has been maintained. As well as manufacturing pressure and temperature gauges – for which they are internationally renowned, Budenberg also produces a range of needle valves, manifolds and complex Double Block & Bleed and Mono Flange assemblies for use by major blue chip offshore, electro- chemical and power generation companies globally.
