8 Safety Hydrogen Gas Detector for AC and DC Applications
The HGD-2000 Hydrogen Gas Detector by Eagle Eye Power Solutions (USA) is now available for DC power sources in addition to AC power. The DC-powered HGD-2000 gas detectors are commonly found in telecoms, in addition to utilities and other battery charging and storing rooms. To learn more about the battery industry’s most popular mounted gas detector please visit Eagle Eye Power Solutions website.
The Eagle Eye HGD-2000 Hydrogen Gas Detector allows the user to monitor hydrogen gas buildup in storage rooms and facilities that house batteries - including forklifts, golf carts, backup power supplies, and battery charging stations. Lead-acid batteries on charge emit hydrogen gas after reaching the 80% recharge point. When mixed with enough air, hydrogen becomes a highly flammable gas that can ignite easily with just a spark, destroying equipment and harming personnel. The lower explosive level (LEL) for hydrogen is 4.1% by volume. The dangers of hydrogen gas explosion are eliminated by using the HGD-2000 hydrogen gas detector.
The HGD-2000 is simple and easy-to-use and easy-to-install for both AC & DC power sources. If the concentration of hydrogen gas in the air surrounding the sensor reaches 1% by volume, the yellow LED will light and the 1% internal relay will close. A four second delay prevents false activation. If the concentration reaches 2%, the red LED will flash, the internal 80 db warning alarm will sound, and the 2% internal relay will close. The HGD-2000 is an inexpensive, preventative tool for equipment and personnel protection where hydrogen gas buildup can occur.
Eagle Eye Power Solutions is committed to offering the best critical battery monitoring, testing and charging solutions in the industry with unbeatable support. Eagle Eye offers 24/7 battery monitoring systems, portable battery resistance testers, digital hydrometers, AC & DC Load Banks, Gas Detectors and other additional solutions for your testing needs. Facility Chiller Maintenance Improved by Thermal Imaging
A new applications report from FLIR Systems (France) details how Integral UK, one of the largest independent providers of property maintenance services in the UK, has used FLIR thermal imaging technology to reduce facility chiller downtime thereby reducing inconvenience and ongoing maintenance costs to their clients.
Facility chillers commonly use refrigerant gas to provide cooling and therefore temperature control for large commercial properties. Integral is a maintenance specialist, who regularly maintains those assets on behalf of some of UK’s largest commercial organisations, many of them household names. New developments in thermal imaging from FLIR have enabled Integral to identify refrigerant gas leaks caused by wear or damage, which went undetected by other maintenance methods. The leaks were found quickly and efficiently using a FLIR GF304 thermal imaging camera.
Traditional methods for refrigerant gas leak detection promote the use of sniffers. Unfortunately, because of the way many facility chillers are designed, accessibility is always a problem and on average maintenance engineers are only able to test c.60% of the installation depending on the chiller design and the pipe runs. With the FLIR GF304 thermal imaging camera, access is improved allowing for accurate diagnostics within those areas which are normally difficult to access in normal operations. The visual output of the GF304 thermal imaging camera, allows users to clearly see any exit point of the gas, automatically supplying evidence based reports on gas escapes that remain undetectable from any other source.
Integral UK report that the FLIR GF304 is very versatile and how they are using it both for finding refrigerant gas leaks and for high voltage, low voltage, mechanical and general building inspections. Further by using the FLIR GF304 as a preventative maintenance tool – Integral has been able to identify potential refrigerant gas escapes before they develop and apply remedial actions. In this way, Integral has been able to improve the reliability of facility chillers and extend the life cycle of a critical building asset.

27549pr@reply-direct.com Flame Detectors Provide Fast and Accurate Detection
Simtronics (France), an IST company, have introduced their MultiFlame DF-TV7 series flame detectors that provide fast and accurate detection of hydrocarbon fires while ensuring reliable false alarm immunity. Available in Multispectral IR (IR3) and UV/2IR versions; both are housed in a rugged 316 stainless steel enclosure, approved to ATEX, CE, and IECEx global standards, and certified and suitable for use in SIL2 applications.
The DF-TV7-V flame detector is based on a multi-infrared spectrum (IR3) technology that provides the longest distance-to-detection on the market (260 ft for n-Heptane), is highly sensitive to fire and is ideal for use in dirty environments and for smoky fires. The DF-TV7-V flame detector uses combined ultraviolet/infrared (UV-2IR) optical technology that provides industry-leading immunity to false alarms based on the two IR channel design. Both solutions lead to a very efficient false alarm rejection while keeping optimum sensitivity to fire.

MultiFlame detectors can be configured to communicate with a wide range of fire panels, controllers, and PLCs and offer HART 7 and Syntel (Lonworks) protocols for addressable event monitoring. The devices come standard with a configurable 4- 20mA or 0-22mA (PLC) output, two configurable alarm relays, and two detector status LEDs.
All MultiFlame detectors are equipped with a continuous optical lens auto-check to ensure that the optical path is clear and that the detector functions properly. Sensors can be replaced easily in the field without removing any cable glands. Devices are easy to test and configure using a TLU wireless handheld unit that is approved for use in hazardous areas. The TLU can also be used for wireless testing of the optical and output circuits.

27139pr@reply-direct.com Multi Gas Clip Battery Lasts Months Instead of Hours
Gas Clip Technologies (USA) have developed a technologically advanced portable multi gas detector, the Multi Gas Clip (MGC).
MGC is the first portable multi gas detector with a two month continuous run time without ever needing to be recharged. Shut down the instrument nightly and the battery can last up to four months. This extended battery life is due to the utilisation of low power photometric technology. Instead of draining the battery with pellistor technology, which has been around since the 1950’s, the MGC uses a low power photo diode infrared source. This conserves power during every test, so the battery lasts and lasts.
The MGC also eliminates the need to frequently calibrate. It can go six months without being calibrated saving precious time, resources and lives. While the MGC uses more sophisticated technology than other portable multi gas detectors, one button operation makes it easy to use.
