12 Safety Gas Detectors Now HART 7 Compliant
Simtronics (USA), an IST Company, is pleased to announce the GD10 infrared combustible and carbon dioxide gas detectors have successfully satisfied all requirements for HART Communication Foundation’s Quality Assurance and Device Registration, Version 7.
The GD10P point IR gas detectors and GD10PE Extended point IR gas detectors are widely used in the harshest environments to protect worker safety and property from the threat of harmful gases. The GD10 point detectors respond to either flammable gas or carbon dioxide with two solid-state infrared sensors that need no calibration or servicing during their lifetime. The infrared source is silicon-based and lasts up to 60 years unlike normal infrared lamps that operate for only 3-4 years.
The gas detectors perform self-diagnostic and calibration tests and give clear warning if a malfunction is detected, without giving a false gas alarm. It has applications in offshore oil and gas platforms, chemical and petrochemical plants, waste disposal, gas turbines and general industry.
The GD10 product family complements the new MultiFlame DF-TV7 series of combined ultraviolet / infrared and multi-spectrum IR detectors, the flammable MultiXplo DG-TX7 gas detector, and the toxic MultiTox DG-TT7 series gas detectors; which are also all compliant to HART 7 registration requirements.

27774pr@reply-direct.com Modular Gasmaster Control Panel Monitors up to Four Gas Detectors
Crowcon’s (UK) new Gasmaster control panel has a modular design meaning users only need purchase the required number of input modules. It can easily be extended by adding more modules at a later date. Gasmaster monitors up to four gas detectors or four fire zones, all from a single location.
Simple to operate, the large multilingual LCD display shows gas levels from all detectors simultaneously and allows quick and easy system adjustment and testing from the control panel. It can operate as a stand-alone unit or interface with any alarm or visual warning devices and control systems.
In addition to standard 4-20mA-type gas detectors, Gasmaster can also be used with mV pellistor-type flammable gas detectors, which are significantly lower in cost than 4-20mA-types as they have no internal electronics. Sensor calibration is performed via the Gasmaster user interface: once commissioned, mV pellistor-type detectors do not need to be accessed until the sensor needs replacing – usually 3-5 years after installation. In addition, power to mV pellistor-type detectors is automatically cut if the gas reading exceeds 95% of the gas’ LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) to prevent sensor damage.
Gasmaster provides as standard a wide range of analogue, relay and Modbus outputs and a ‘calibration due’ warning informs the user when a service is due on a gas or fire detector. An IP65 enclosure also means the control panel can be installed in potentially wet areas without requiring the additional cost of high-IP enclosures.
Key industries include: Refineries; Petrochemical, chemical and pharmaceutical plants; Water and wastewater treatment; Gas storage and distribution; Power generation; Manufacturing processes (e.g. car manufacturing plants); Universities and research facilities; Local authorities.

27597pr@reply-direct.com Tango Single Gas Monitor Increases Worker Safety
Industrial Scientific (USA), global specialist in Gas Detection as a Service, recently introduced the Tango TX1 single gas monitor. By wearing the Tango, workers will be the safest single gas monitor users in the world. A three-year runtime and patent pending DualSense Technology increases worker safety, regardless of bump test frequency, while reducing overall maintenance costs.
The Tango detects carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Its revolutionary patent pending DualSense Technology includes two of the same type sensor for the detection of a single gas. The two sensor readings are processed through a proprietary algorithm and displayed as a single reading to the user.
DualSense Technology was developed to address the major challenge of making sure workers are always using fully functioning, reliable instruments in the field. Until Tango, that required a bump test of the instrument before each day’s use. With Tango’s DualSense Technology, workers are exponentially safer regardless of bump test frequency.
It is powered by one replaceable 2/3 AA lithium battery that will power it continuously for up to three years even if the instrument is being used in the optional “always on” mode. After the battery can no
longer support instrument life, it can be easily replaced for another three years of continuous operation. With a three-year instrument warranty, three-year carbon CO and H2S sensor warranty, and two- year warranty on the SO2 and NO2 sensors, the Tango is the most cost effective instrument on the market today.
The Tango is compatible with iNet, Industrial Scientific’s Gas Detection as a Service solution. iNet is a software-based service that increases safety by providing visibility into gas detector alarms, exposure and usage. With iNet, customers do not have to buy gas detectors. Instead, they can subscribe to iNet and receive Gas Detection as a Service. .

23801pr@reply-direct.com New Guide to Gas Detection Published
A new independent Guide to Gas Detection has been published by CoGDEM (The Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring) to provide industry professionals with a complete reference document on the accurate, reliable measurement of gas concentrations in both process control and occupational safety applications.
This book provides the latest information on UK, EU and global regulations, guidance on flammable, toxic and asphyxiant gases, workplace safety, gas detection requirements, sensor technologies, calibration and performance evaluation.
“There is an emphasis on providing practical guidance throughout this book. For example, a quick reference guide explains the key issues in gas detection system selection, this book will be essential reading for anyone with a professional interest in gas detection.”

Sensor/Transmitter for Toxic
Hydrocarbons (VOCs) Organic Solvents The EX-5185, 24 VDC,
Sensor/Transmitter features a PID sensor, which can be calibrated for ppm/ppb level detection of a wide range of toxic hydrocarbon gases and organic compounds, such as benzene, vinyl chloride, methyl mercaptan, etc. The PID sensor can also be used for detecting certain inorganic compounds such as hydrazine. The EX-5185 is approved for Class I, Division 1, Groups B, C and D. It features a liquid crystal display, 4-20 mA output and non-intrusive calibration. This Sensor/Transmitter operates on 24 VDC power provided by a PLC or any one of several controllers available from ENMET Corporation (USA).
