CSA and CRN Proves Gauges are on the Level
Brooks Instrument (USA) has announced important CSA and CRN approvals for the Model 810 magnetic level gauge and associated transmitters and switches. These approvals verify Brooks’ high quality and compliance with international standards that customer’s value.
CSA International, the leading provider of product testing and certification services for the United States and Canada, has certified Brooks transmitters and switches to be intrinsically safe and explosion/flame-proof in Class I, Div 1 hazardous areas. ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association), the pressure equipment safety authority for Alberta, Canada, has also issued a CRN (Canadian Registration Number) certificate for the Model 810 magnetic level gauge. Brooks expects to receive CRN certificates for the rest of the Canadian provinces shortly.

Bronkhorst Cori-Tech B.V. (The Netherlands), has introduced CORI-FILLTM, a compact solution for fluid dosage, based around the extremely accurate mass measurement of its (mini) CORI- FLOW series of Coriolis-type instruments, for flow rates between 400 mg/h and 600 kg/h. Developed using innovative hardware and software, CORI-FILL technology features integrated batch counters and the facility to directly control a close-coupled shut-off valve for brief batch sequences down to <0.3secs, a proportional valve for longer sequences, or a liquid pump for dosing without the need for pressurised vessels. CORI-FILL offers all this functionality, with plug and play simplicity that enables an immediate start to dosage duties after connecting power and fluid accessories, in one compact footprint and from one supplier, with single point responsibility.
In contrast with gravimetric processes using weighing scales, where compounds are dosed one by one, CORI-FILL systems can add all ingredients simultaneously, shortening batch and agitation cycles, as well as improving quality. The amount to be dosed can be easily preset by programming the batch counters via a fieldbus connection, with all the standard digital protocols available.
Due to the small footprint of the (mini) CORI-FLOW instruments, it is possible to fit the flow meter extremely close to the shut-off valve, which results in fast response times and even greater accuracy, since there is a minimal delay effect in the pipeline. It is also possible to mount multiple CORI-FILL assemblies together in highly compact, simultaneous dosing systems, with the absence of moving parts or line intrusions which results in less maintenance and cleaning downtime.

The operating range of the new Seybert & Rahler (Germany) piston diaphragm pumps for the series 510.1 is between 65 l/h to 1300 l/h at up to 200 bar and for the series 511.1 from 100 l/h to 1900 l/h at up to 220 bar. With these performance data, the new piston diaphragm pumps are qualified for a wide range of applications including the petrochemical industry. Due to the variable possible combinations, the pumps can also be adapted for many other application areas.
The new 510.1 and 511.1 stroke mechanisms are the basis of these new series which have been designed as variable eccentric drives. The stroke can be continuously adjusted here from 0% to 100% using a hand wheel or an actuator. In doing so, the repeat accuracy is below 1%.
Among other features the new 5series is equipped as standard with a high quality material multi-layer diaphragm which guarantees reliable diaphragm rupture detection.
In order to enable use in the crude oil conveying and processing industry, these pumps are also option available on the one hand for the explosion-protected area as well as in accordance with the API standard 675.

Announcing a Revolutionary Way to Measure Differential Pressure
Crystal Engineering (USA) is releasing a significant addition to their nVision Reference Recorder. This most recent (and free) quarterly update enables the Intrinsically Safe, hand-held, field calibrator to graph and record average and differential pressure data.
Now, the nVision can display, record and graph differential pressure to a remarkable accuracy of 0.025% of the differential reading up to 300 psi static, 0.05% up to 3,000 psi static, and 0.1% up to 10,000 psi static pressure. The nVision can also record 500,000 data points from each of its two modular sensors, simultaneously. It takes these measurements as frequently as every 0.1 second, without any change in accuracy between -20°C and 50°C.
The nVision delivers this accuracy while maintaining excellent field capability, and without risking sensor damage. Other differential calibrators sustain damage easily, when an improper connection or operation of valves exposes their single sensor to full static pressure. Because the nVision Reference Recorder uses two independent pressure modules, an operator cannot damage either sensor - providing he has selected the appropriate pressure modules for the anticipated static pressure.
