Analytical Instrumentation PACs Sulfur Express Method Now Published Standard
Quick, accurate sulfur detection inside or outside the laboratory with the Sulfur Express is now a Standard. The Sulfur Express method is now published, and embodied in ASTM D7620 - Standard Test Method for Determination of Total Sulfur in Liquid Hydrocarbon Based Fuels by Continuous Injection, Air Oxidation and Ultraviolet Fluorescence Detection. PAC is a leading global provider of advanced analytical instruments for laboratories and online process applications primarily to the petroleum and petrochemical industries.
D7620 is a win-win for fuel blenders and processors, putting faster, more accurate, more efficient sulfur detection in a portable analyzer in the hands of those who need it most, and for whom fuel quality is critical. The method is different from previously-used D5453 because it does not require the use of compressed gasses for oxidation, enhancing the portability of the analyzer. Both the process and the analyzer are ideal for portable applications such as mobile labs and useful for screening applications when user does not want to send a sample to a lab for analysis. This means greater flexibility and efficiency.

For Diesel & Biodiesel Fuels: PAC's Cetane ID 510 Method ( D7668-2010) Now Approved by ASTM Committee D02
The Herzog Cetane ID 510 by PAC, a compact, automated instrument for quality Derived Cetane Number analysis of diesel and biodiesel fuels, is now a standard. Its method has been approved and embodied in ASTM D7668, "Standard Test Method for Determination of Derived Cetane Number (DCN) of Diesel Fuel Oils - Ignition Delay and Combustion Delay Using a Constant Volume Combustion Chamber Method."
The ID 510 is compact and easy to use, with fully automated test and calibration sequences, and is extremely precise. It provides perfect correlation to ASTM D613, and is Ideal for biodiesel and biodiesel blends as well as cetane improved samples.
Cetane ID 510 offers 'one-button operation' for simpler, easier use when calibrating the instrument, or when running a test sample. Because it is equipped with a high-pressure injector for finer sample droplet size and therefore better combustion, the Cetane ID 510 produces much less soot in the test chamber than other Constant Volume Combustion Chamber (CVCC) instruments. The electronically controlled Injector guarantees high precision in fuel injection volume. It features a user-friendly design and is equipped with automated safety
systems. Its high precision exceeds the results of CFR Engine and other CVCC methods, has long-term calibration stability, and has no carry-over effect from previous samples.

PetroSpec QuickSpec™ for Ethanol Analysis in the Field
PetroSpec QuickSpec™ by PAC, the only instrument of its kind on the market that can measure ethanol, water and denaturant in fuel ethanol.
Terminal operators and others need to know at all times that they are receiving fuel ethanol that meets the ASTM D 4806 standard. The rugged, user-friendly QuickSpec™ lets producers know precisely the purity of the denatured ethanol being delivered to the terminal, in the refinery, or in the blending tank, within seconds. With the QuickSpec, producers know that they're blending high quality gasoline fuels consistently to specifications and exacting standards.
Quickspec™ measures the amount of ethanol, water and denaturant in the sample. All this information is obtained at a fraction of the equipment cost and in a fraction of the analysis time of gas chromatography. A user can measure over 100 samples per hour if so desired.
