LIMS & Lab Automation

Fully Automated Dumas Nitrogen/Protein Analyser NDA Series

Velp Scientifica presents the NDA Series Dumas Nitrogen/Protein Analyser, consisting in two extremely advanced models aimed to simplify routine operation and reduce operating costs to the minimum. Choose between NDA 701 and NDA 702, a unique dual carrier gas nitrogen and protein analyser.

Both the units use high-technology to optimise productivity. With the highest limits of detection and readability on the market and an RSD lower than 0.5% for EDTA, the user is assured of high precision results. Samples can be loaded in nearly 120 positions, using the same loading procedure whether solid, paste or liquid. Once loaded, the unit runs fully automatically offering exceptional reproducibility and comparability of results. The lowest detection limit of the market ensured, only 0.001 mg/N.

With the new NDA 702 Dual Carrier Gas Dumas N/Protein Analyser, Velp Scientifica takes a further step in enhancing accuracy and end user flexibility. Helium has been the carrier gas for elemental analysis for many years, whilst industry was demanding an alternative carrier gas to address application needs, availability and cost effectiveness. The Velp NDA 702 fulfils the industry’s needs by offering the optimum alternative carrier gas, Argon, which can be utilised seamlessly alongside Helium.

Switching from Helium to Argon or vice-versa with the Velp NDA 702 is truly quick, easy and safe: simply choose the gas, close one tap and open the other. No need to replace parts or upgrade software.

With the Velp NDA 702 absolute flexibility becomes the standard.

No need to decide in advance which carrier gas to use and exciting new features including the completely re-designed DUMASoft™ offering multi-lingual support, results at a glance without the need to create a report, or to name calibration curves. All of this together with the exclusive Velp TEMS™ technology for conspicuous savings in terms of Time, Energy, Money and Space and an unmatched new levels of LOD and accuracy that state an industry record.

Velp Scientifica NDA Series complies with all standards in the food and feed markets – AOAC, AACC, ASBC, OIV and ISO – making it the ideal choice for industrial and monitoring laboratories. 35355pr@reply-direct.com

New Plate Handler Re-defi nes Lab Automation

Peak Analysis & Automation (PAA) announces the launch of its S-LAB™ automated plate handler. Breaking the mould of traditional solutions to make it easier for labs to automate, S-LAB is an easy-to-use, compact, and affordable single instrument loading solution, with the same reliability as a robotic arm.

Robotic arms, while reliable, are expensive, large, and require complicated installations. On the other hand, many cheaper, smaller plate handlers lack the same level of reliability, especially when dealing with lidded plates. Recognising this challenge, PAA developed S-LAB to bridge the gap and make automation more accessible. Compatible with a wide variety of bench top instruments, the S-LAB easily fits standard lab benches and most safety cabinets, delivering reliable automation that accommodates varying workflows and lab space, without stretching budgets.

PAA has used its expertise to re-define automation, harnessing the very best of laboratory robotics to deliver a truly easy-to-use system, while eliminating complicated installations and robot teaching. An on-board camera system enables easy instrument alignment and verification and there is no requirement for a separate PC thanks to an embedded controller and software. S-LAB is easily controlled via a smart, web-based application with a simple, intuitive user interface that can be run on any device - including a smartphone.

S-LAB also boasts efficient and reliable handling of lidded microplates, essential for sterile cell-based assays. S-LAB’s capacity is up to 100 unlidded/80 lidded plates and can handle most standard and deep well microplates. There is also an optional barcode reader, compatible with industry standard formats.

Rob Harkness, Business Development Manager at PAA, commented, “We’re excited to bring our S-LAB plate handler to market - it has huge potential to open up automation to many more labs. From speaking to our customers and listening to the market we realised there was a need for an affordable, reliable and compact solution that could handle lidded plates, and was easy to set up and use. We designed S-LAB to break the mould of traditional solutions, meeting all of these requirements. I’m happy to say that the end result ticks all the boxes and more.”
