22 Benchtop Autoclave with Larger Chamber
Design of the Priorclave H60 compact autoclave came about through a customer request for a benchtop sterilise based on the highly successful C40 laboratory autoclaves but with a larger sterilising chamber.
With a level of settings and operating flexibility usually reserved for larger autoclaves, the Priorclave H60 compact, front loading steam steriliser will enable laboratories with low volume requirements to enjoy the full benefits of a feature-packed range at an affordable price. It is ideally suited for a variety of sterilising applications such as media preparation, laboratory waste, liquids and diluents, glassware, instruments and apparatus.
Developed at the company’s UK manufacturing centre, the H60, a 60 litre benchtop laboratory and research grade autoclave is now a key model within Priorclave’s more compact steam steriliser range and offers a 50% increase in chamber capacity. This latest model has an internal chamber diameter of 350mm, a working depth of 625mm and is available with a choice of either a single or double heating elements, giving cycle times of 90 or 75 minutes respectively. It also features the advanced TACTROL® of cycle status as well as allowing easy setting of temperature and time.

Designed for bench-mounting and easy installation, models in this versatile H60 autoclave range can be supplied for either manual or auto-water fill and come in a choice of standard or vacuum models. Appreciating that the increased external depth of the new Compact H60 steam steriliser may restrict placement on a standard laboratory bench Priorclave is able to supply a special stand to facilitate mounting adjacent to a working surface.
As a dedicated design and manufacturing centre for autoclaves, Priorclave has created one of the largest ranges of standard steam sterilisers, from compact bench-top front loading to free-standing top-loading and high capacity front-loading autoclaves as well as double-door, power-door and stackable sterilisers. It is unlikely that customers cannot find a model to meet their needs, however for one customer this was not enough.
Despite having the most comprehensive range of laboratory autoclaves there is always someone who wants something different and that is exactly what brought about the development and production by Priorclave of the H60, an autoclave with a horizontal 60 litre capacity chamber.

Application Guide Highlights Benefits of Low Retention Pipette Tips
Integra has released an application guide highlighting the importance of choosing the right disposable tips for the liquid you’re pipetting. The recently published Performance of Low Retention GripTips from Integra demonstrates how these high quality consumables can improve pipetting performance for viscous and low surface tension liquids.
High quality pipettes and correct techniques are essential to ensure reliable and reproducible results, but the physiochemical properties of the liquid can also have a significant impact on accuracy and precision, particularly at low volumes. Polypropylene (PP) is the material of choice for most disposable pipette tips, as it repels aqueous liquids, leading to low fluid retention within the tip. However, liquids with a low surface tension, such as oils or solutions containing detergents, or the viscous fluids common in some biological applications, can adhere to the inner surface of PP tips. This ‘wetting’ prevents efficient liquid ejection during dispensing, affecting reproducibility and leading to wastage of precious samples or reagents. IntegrA’s Low Retention GripTips, designed to work in combination with the company’s range of manual and electronic pipettes, offer an ideal solution to overcome this issue, ensuring optimal liquid recovery and improving experimental results.

New Multifunctional Vacuum Controller for Corrosive Applications
The new Wiggens DVR 480 is a multifunctional vacuum controller for connection to existing pumps or vacuum networks. As all the parts come into contact with gases or condensate are made of PTFE or highly anti-corrosive ceramics, the controller can be used for corrosive applications. The advanced electronic technology significantly increases the efficiency of lab process, such as vacuum-stat process inside the chemical reactors, solvent recovery on a rotary evaporator, as well as environment protection. It is so easy to control the vacuum precisely from 0.1 mbar to 1000 mbar, DVR480 supports the programming of up to 5-step control, which is suitable for distillation operations, especially for the applications with dual or more boiling points distillation. The unit is using bright LED display and convenient on-touch control, digital (RS-232/485) and analogue connections are available for remote control via PC, PLC or other central controlling systems, which makes it easy to use in the chemical reaction systems. The DVR 480 can be used as a desktop version, mounted on stand bar or installed in electrical cabinet.

Rapid, Low Cost Liquid Cooling
A line of low temperature coolers that provide rapid, low cost cooling of liquids to temperatures as low as -100°C is available from PolyScience. Available in both immersion probe and flow through styles, these compact systems are ideal cooling exothermic reactions, freeze point determinations, freeze drying, impact testing, lyophilisation, and vapour and solvent trapping.
Excellent for trapping, Dewar-type applications, and the rapid cool down of small volumes of liquids, PolyScience Immersion Probe Style Coolers reduce the expense of using dry ice or liquid nitrogen and are capable of reaching temperatures as low as -100°C. A flexible hose allows convenient placement of the cooling probe. Seven different models as well as a variety of probe types are available.
Capable of reaching temperatures as low as -25°C, PolyScience Flow-Through Style Coolers are ideal for extending the temperature range of non- refrigerated circulators to below ambient as well as boosting the cooling capacity of refrigerated circulators. These coolers also offer an extremely economic alternative to tap water cooling of heated circulating baths when rapid cool-downs or operation at or near ambient is needed.
