Ovens, Furnaces & Heating Equipment

Heating and Cooling Systems with a Working Temperature Range up to 550°C Offered

Lauda is now offering temperature control systems that function using liquid salt. The advantages: unique working temperature range up to 550°C and high operational safety for seamless production processes. After successful test runs and customer approval in-house at Lauda, the first high-temperature system to use molten salt as a heat carrier was loaded for transport to the customer’s facilities. Lauda has been designing specialised heating and cooling systems for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries for over 50 years. They provide precise temperature control thermostating for reaction vessels, evaporators, dryers and filters using heat transfer liquids – primarily thermal oil. If extremely high temperatures are required, such as in aluminium oxide or melamine production, lye evaporation, and other high-temperature reactions, molten salt offers some real advantages as a heat carrier compared to thermal oils, which are limited to an operating temperature of around 400°C. In comparison, the salt mixture used by Lauda permits temperatures up to 550°C. They are liquid under operating conditions, have ideal use characteristics, such as low viscosity and high heat capacity, and ensure non-pressurised operation.

The principle of operation: a pump conveys the liquid salt mixture from a heated bottom tank to a heater (either a combustion heater or an electric heater) that heats it to the desired temperature. If necessary, a cooling module can be integrated that will cool the salt mixture down to a temperature just above its solidification point, precisely and to the correct degree. This makes it possible to realise a constant temperature system with a unique working temperature range. When the pump is turned off, the salt mixture automatically drains back into the tank. This prevents solidification in the system and ensures high operational safety.

All Lauda systems are delivered to the customer as modules, ready to be connected and with a controller included. Extensive tests in the Lauda testing facility make starting up on-site a quick process, thus reducing standstill times during installation.

Heating and Cooling Circulators for Laboratory Applications from -30 to +200°C

Huber Kältemaschinenbau presents the new KISS® model series with economical cooling and heating circulators. KISS stands for ‘Keeping Innovation Safe & Simple’ and describes what the customer may expect from the devices: innovative technology with safe and easy operation!

The new KISS circulators are ideally suited for routine laboratory applications such as sample temperature control, analyses and material testing as well as the external temperature control of measuring devices and test setups. Customers can choose from over 50 models for heating and cooling. The list of equipment features has grown even longer with KISS. Apart from an RS232 interface, it now also has a USB interface as standard. Another new addition is a modern OLED display with intuitive menu navigation. The new white display can be read well at all times, even in brighter environments. Another advantage is the simultaneous display of actual temperature and set point value, as well as high/low temperature limit values. As a factory fi tted option, a connection socket for a Pt100 sensor can be fi tted. This permits the display (not control) e.g. of an external process temperature.

In line with the motto ‘Safe & Simple’, KISS devices offer easy operation and meet the highest standards in terms of safety. All models are equipped with an over temperature and low level protection according to Safety class III/FL (DIN 12876) and are thus also suited for fl ammable liquids. The circulation pump generates a capacity of 14 l/min; 0.25 bar on the pressure side and 10.5 l/min; 0.17 bar on the suction side and thus ensures optimal mixing and homogeneous temperatures. The temperature stability is ±0.05 Kelvin. A pump adapter for external applications is available as accessory.

The KISS range includes baths made of transparent polycarbonate (up to +100°C) or high-grade stainless steel (up to +200°C) as well as refrigeration circulators for working temperatures down to -30°C. The fi nishing touch to the range is a range of useful accessories like test tube racks, adjustable bases, bath covers, sensors, hoses and heat transfer liquids.
