Dear reader,
This Guide has been produced for over 15 years. Oddly, perhaps it has changed little and its structure remains much the same as the 1994 edition – ‘Read before Referenced’ was and still is the formula in that the publication contains editorial as well as company/product information.

We trust that the articles in the publication remain informative and useful and we know that the second time the publication is used it is because you, the reader, need to reference a product that is required in the laboratory.
The Lab Asia Guide is distributed free of charge to our total circulation with a readership of some 70,000 Scientists. It is also available at major exhibitions and conferences. In the past year those have included ArabLab in Dubai, for which we are a major sponsor and indeed ILM Designs produce the catalogue. Other shows that Lab Asia is distributed include CIA Singapore, CISILE and BCEIA China.
So much for a successful concept. In spite of predicted gloom in global economies, this publishing house has enjoyed a very positive year and there has been little or no sign of diminishing laboratory equipment sales worldwide.
Indeed the Company has launched new publications with encouraging results, one of which, Pollution Solutions, has been particularly well received by a different type of reader. Our journals have always provided the means to analyse the sample, but if it pollutes we now help clean it up. For a sample of Pollution Solutions go to

As to the future, Lab Asia is to broaden its coverage of both India and China.
Are China and India’s economies expanding at a greater rate than other countries worldwide? There is little doubt that these countries have weathered the recession storm that has affected Europe, America and most other geographical regions but they have suffered too. However, the emerging countries still pride themselves on expansion. True it’s a little slower than formerly, but never the less significant. Fifteen years ago we looked to introduce a journal for laboratory science into this rapidly expanding market place – more universities, more hospitals and more industrial expansion than the rest of the world. Still that expansion today leads the rest of the world. Thus Lab Asia was launched 15 years ago to provide a platform for expertise into this dynamic area
The Annual Lab Asia Guide to scientific equipment and chemicals I know you will find useful. If you are not included as a supplier then please contact us – inclusion is very low cost or even free and highly productive. The hard copy journal, although supported online, I believe will exist for many, many years. After all you have read this commentary!
Our journals are nothing without you our readers. Fifteen years of Lab Asia are entwined with International Labmate, which is celebrating thirty-five years of publishing and continues to lead the pack of those journals that still exist in this market place.
Every good wish to you on sailing this recessionary storm. Whether it’s eighteen months more or less to go the truth is that the economy and investment in health care, education and industrial development will be greater in 5 years than it is today!
