The 2nd Stage programme is going through the same process and will be ready for implementation when the apprentices return to college after the summer. Recruitment is also

you as much notice as possible to allow you to manage your workload. Yes, it is a commitment from employers to take on an apprentice, but the benefits can be seen early in the programme. These benefits include people trained to your company standards and an extra pair of hands to support your business. There is no doubt that apprentices

will gain valuable knowledge from your current tradesmen.

We’re full of enthusiasm SECTT is fortunate to have a dynamic and enthusiastic team who offer support to both employers and apprentices, while meeting the demands from Skills Development Scotland. Elsewhere, the office team have been back at their desks

for a number of weeks on a hybrid basis and this is working well. Our training officers are also delighted to be able to get back out on site and into colleges to carry out face-to-face reviews.

exceeding my expectations already and I would ask that you contact SECTT with your requirements as soon as possible. Although colleges are delivering face-to-face learning, this will be under Scottish Government guidelines which can change on a monthly basis, so there may still be class size restrictions in place. A number of 1stStage classes will also start later than normal in 2021 but, as ever, SECTT will keep you informed.

Let’s look ahead I’m also pleased to report SECTT has a good number of applicants in all areas who have already sat their SECTT pre-employment assessment and are actively looking for an electrical apprenticeship. Please contact your SECTT training officer or the admin team who will be happy to send you out a pass list. Finally, a huge thank-you for all your support – let’s look forward to better months ahead.
