Standing strong in a crisis
After an eventful fi rst year in the hot seat, SELECT President Donald W Orr refl ects on the work of the association during the pandemic – and reveals his pride at how it has stepped up to help Members
T
he past 18 months have been unlike anything we have ever seen in both our business and personal lives. It has also been an unprecedented time for SELECT, which has
undertaken many vital activities to help its Members and the wider industry. Despite operating in highly challenging circumstances, Scotland’s largest construction trade association continues to work tirelessly behind the scenes to help us all emerge from this pandemic stronger and better equipped to face the future together. As I write,

this work includes negotiating industry pay conditions for the coming year after the wage freeze of 2020. There have been so
many areas that SELECT has been involved in, but I would just like to highlight a few things of which we should all be very proud.
