The National Energy Effi ciency Transition Support and Heat Pump Training Fund has been put in place by the Scottish Government to support those whose careers have been aff ected by the pandemic. The fully-funded courses,
off ered by nine Scottish Colleges including West College Scotland, are aimed at upskilling and enhancing the qualifi cations of individuals aged 25 or older who are redundant or at risk of being made redundant. The courses cover key areas and combine online learning with onsite practical elements to ensure participants gain the skills and qualifi cations employers really value. You won’t need to pay
towards any element of the training, which must be completed by 31 July 2021.
Courses available are: ● AS/GS Heat Pumps ● Energy Battery Storage Awareness ● Solar PV ●Water Byelaws ● Unvented Hot Water ● Electric Vehicle Charging ● 18th Edition Electrical 2382-18 ● Introduction to Digital Smart Homes ● External Wall Insulation Application. To be eligible for the funding you must be a resident in Scotland and aged 25 or over. You must have become unemployed since 1 March 2020 or have been notifi ed that you’re at risk of redundancy/ unemployment, e.g. furloughed. For more information, visit

David is named new ECA President
Business owner and electrical engineer David Lewis has been announced as the new President of ECA. David joined
his father Brian’s electrical contracting business in 1981 as an apprentice while studying at Walsall College before they set up Chancery Contracts Ltd together in 1992. Over the last 29 years, the family-run business has
grown considerably and now employs more than 30 electricians, improvers and apprentices. David takes over the ECA
Presidency from Gary Worrall, who has spent the last 12 months guiding the ECA and its members through Brexit uncertainty and the COVID-19 pandemic. David said:
