Digital portal keeps things simple


Selected ECS Card applications can now be made online after the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB) launched its dedicated digital portal.


Phase 1 of the new service means cards can now be applied for, renewed and upgraded online in the following specialist areas: ●Electrotechnical – Electrician, Approved Electrician, Technician Electrician, Electrical Labourer and Operative ●ECS Related Discipline – Field Engineer, Equipment Installer, Aerial and Satellite Engineer and Control Systems Engineer ●Management – ECS Site Support, ECS Manager including Electrical Site Manager, Electrical Contract Manager, Site Manager, Project Manager and Contract Manager. Using the portal is quick and easy, with applicants guided through a simple step-by-step process, which includes uploading certifi cates and paying the relevant fee. The SJIB is currently fi ne-tuning the service to enable online access to training records and ECS Card

AQP cards are applicable to operatives and managers who have further education or higher education electrotechnical engineering qualifications. To be eligible to apply for an AQP card, individuals must hold an electrical engineering degree or a further education qualification in an electrotechnical discipline at Level 4 or Level 5, such as an HND or HNC.
