Greek, South Italy, Apulian, a red figure Bell rater, th cent. BC, 23.5cm x 23.7cm, painted scene of a nude Eros with wings outstretched holding a basket and extending a patera, on the opposite side is a Mæned holding a basket and a garlanded crown, two upturned handles with fanning palmettes and scrolling tendrils below; under the rim is a band of laurel leaves with a scrolling wave pattern below the figures. Has been broken in several places and repaired to a very high standard
